Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I don't know if this has been posted in other threads (couldn't find it in any of them), but this promotional video by Matmi has some interesting new points to share. 2 most interesting points: ⋅  Augmented Reality Queueline ⋅  A new rendition of the 'smiler song' heard in the ga...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I suspect this rogue join is in part, caused by how early they built the sections over the toilet block. That section was in place for months before the rest of the circuit even came close, so a misalignment isn't too surprising to me. Think of a hillside with 2 people digging towards each other thr...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

No, the lift chain was not complete. I am not 100% sure on this but I think..... Their were 4 boxes of lift chain there are now only 2 but the chain is still not complete, could it be possible that 1 chain was in 4 boxes? Most probably. Looking at the shots of the chain in the air, the length of ch...

Re: The Smiler - Other Discussion

The radio program earlier today has answered this pretty definitely :P

This ride is mainly Candy Holland's creation with some layout help from John Wardley. He was secretly reading these boards....

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

All these talk about launches and the like... I've devised what I think is the most likely solution as to why we're seeing magnetic brakes rather than a mechanical anti-rollback: ease of evacuation. With a roller coaster such as this, and being so twisted will make access to the lifts a logistical n...

Re: The Smiler - Other Discussion

I think a lot of people misinterpreted my question there, I know that John can do basic layouts and can devise experiences and the like, but I was interested in his involvement with the project. So for example... Nemesis: Pretty much John's baby.He frequented the construction site to oversee constru...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Still no sign of the Hypnotiser then! I wonder why it hasn't surfaced yet? Low priority job do you think?

Re: The Smiler - Other Discussion

This is a bit off the tangent of what's being currently talked about, but do we know in what capacity John Wardley is involved in the SW7 project? We know he's involved, but to what degree? (Devising the theme? coming up with the coaster type?), also... how involved do you think he is with the coast...

Re: Quick Questions

Asking again as I don't think anybody saw my question:

About Extraordinary golf,

Me and a friend are planning on visiting after going to the water park, are there any lockers or anywhere we can leave our stuff whilst playing?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

The fact that fins have been installed suggests this to me: I can't figure out just what those fins are meant to be or what they're meant to do. All I can tell from that pic is that they have exactly the same look as the fins seen on the brake runs, so I'm assuming for the time being that these are ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Another thing to add is that we're not used to seeing coaster construction 'warts and all', given that all construction has usually completed by the time the park begins the season. I expect that all coasters will have some grime and dirt over them when being built, but we would rarely see that, giv...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

With the risk of going off topic here, what does the sign say on the bottom of the Inoculator leg? In photos it doesn't say The Inoculator (like it does on the concept art), but you can only see the last two letters; 'ON'. Does it say 'Inoculation'? I'm pretty sure that it simply says 'The Inoculat...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Hi, I have been keeping track of the construction since day 1, and I have noticed something about the tickler arm of the Marmaliser. I take it the brushes will brush you when you past, however they would have to restrict people being able to hold their arms up, because if they did, their arm would ...

It's nothing too strange. I think that curved section is just the chain return channel.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Reports are coming in that power across the towers has been restored, so with any luck any power-intensive construction can now continue.

Re: What's going on with Duel recently?

Actually, you'll find that Duel has been receiving steady improvements over the years since it first opened 10 years ago. Duel was going into a state of decline after a couple of years of it opening (effects not working, stuff being taken out etc) but in recent years they've been doing a great job i...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

That's basically so that they can hold more trains/make it easier to shuffle trains around. It also endures the main ride circuit is never incomplete for long periods of time when a train is being taken off of the track.

At least I think!

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Or... instead of moving them out of the way, why not the other way round? Imagine how it would be if the needles suddenly jabbed towards the track? Not far enough to breach the safety envelope, but enough to give a scare?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

First drop! At last!

Not sure if it will be completed today (bout would love to be proved wrong on that), but anything that takes us closer to seeing these drop segments connected up is a plus from me!
