Anyone any thoughts on what the thorough-put will be of Wicker Man? 3 trains, 24 riders, maybe a train dispatched every 90 seconds. That makes about 960 riders an hour maybe?.... 952 riders per hour is what’s on the on-ride photo, so your maths was pretty good! I imagine we will see real world op...
There is a media event this week, Thursday I believe but it might have been Wednesday I can't remember 100%. It was supposed to be last week but got cancelled due to the snow.
The media event is this Thursday, so expect to hear more about Wicker Man then.
Let's not forget that previously - we had bathtubs and rubber ducks! ;) anything better than that is a step forward. This is true, the wooden/tribal/wicker theme we have so far is much closer to the Mutiny Bay style than the refurbed Flume ever was. To be fair, I do think that the two areas mesh de...
I'm interested to see how they are going to run the chain return to the bottom of the site, especially when latter parts of the layout run directly under the lift hill.
In terms of dark themes, I think they are used to make the ride itself seem more thrilling. SW8 looks like a family sized GCI coaster. From this alone the ride will appeal to quite a range of audiences. However, you may get die hard thrill seekers overlooking the coaster because they consider it tam...
I still think the tunnel from the top of the lift to the drop is going to kill what would be a great ride? looking wise and the view from the ride? does the coaster make that much noise going round the top of the first drop? surely the tunnel should be all the way up the lift hill? Why? Heading str...
I was on park today and took some photos of the construction. It was very interesting to see the scale of SW8. It truly can't be understood from photos alone. http://i.imgur.com/e7OuswP.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2LtVopH.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ZpHBJPN.jpg http://i.imgur.com/FLl0L7d.jpg http://i.imgur.co...
yes timber is darker when wet but that still looks quite dark. although all timber gets bleached by the sun and goes grey so after a few moths to a year it will all turn grey (unless re treated/oiled) I'm surprised at a pine as its a softwood so would need to be tanalised treated. and Treatment wis...
Does anyone know if The Smiler has run 4 trains yet this season and will it during school peaks because I am not prepared to be waiting with just 2 trains in operation! :lol At most it will run 3 trains from my understanding, the park have found that it runs best on 3 trains and this easily underst...
I hope the construction of a new family thrill coaster will signal the end of Spinball. But it will probably be replaced with a expansion with a new kiddy flat nobody wants. Well surely children enjoy the children's rides? Alton Towers does need some new thrilling flat rides but that is definitely ...
I love the fact Towers Street is resembling the bright and colourful version shown on some of Alton Towers' adverts. However, I wish they repainted the entire area in one go rather than gradually. I feel this would have been a more dramatic change. It would have also meant that all of the buildings ...
But that's without flights right? So it would be even more than that. Look's like I'll stick to visiting the 'poor value for money' Alton Towers offers...
According to AT Facebook, Sub Terra will eventually be reopening at some point: Hi Joe, Sub Terra is currently unavailable, we do hope to have it open at some point in the future but at present we do not have a timescale of when this may be. This is a massive part of the problem. I've just sat here...
I'd just like to point out that the ride which caused visitor numbers to reach a recent high in 2010 was Thirteen, a family coaster. I wasn't around on this forum at that time but I am sure many said the ride looked underwhelming from the start. We are back in the same position. I believe that Alton...
It looks to be a very interesting ride. It definitely has a better layout compared to the many Sky Rocket IIs out there. Plus, it's also the first infinity coaster to have 5 cars per train!
I was reading Coaster Bots Twitter the other day and when he went last he stated that the Projection Block was back to normal apart from one E-Light near the entrance flaps. I was so excited to show my friends the Block when we went with School but then to find we were waiting for ages, in the baki...
