Re: X-Sector refurbishment?

Just going back to the comment about The Smiler not dueling, which I know has been covered by someone else, but oh well. 1. The Smiler does duel if dispatch is in time. 2. The reduced number of trains, from 5 to 3, has meant that trains don't really wait anymore. This makes it harder to sync up the ...

Re: Chessington - General Discussion

I didn't take a picture but they replaced the fencing around the tree with fencing that fits the area, ie a themed wooden fence. It looks a lot better now.

Haven't they have problems with foundations from the start?

Re: SW8

I have a feeling, being the god that he is, he would have been told about SW8 well before we knew about it. As SkuM001 said, it's a stock email that he uses to reply to people. He can't state he knows about the attraction as it will only cause more questioning.

Re: SW8

Could we see a Th13teen - Smiler situation happen with SW8 and SW9? Meaning that SW8 is a thrilling family attraction that has a somewhat large budget, similar to Th13teen. While SW9, which debuts three years later, has the maximum budget and is targeted to thrill seekers, similar to the Smiler.

Re: SW8

I don't know whether this has been said, or is actually useful, but on the actual layout plan, it states it's the 6th Drawing Revision.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Going back months, did we ever find out what the numbers on the supports at the bottom of the site meant?

Re: Ride Closures/Removals in 2016

You are correct here. AT have been abysmal at communicating with the general public over the past months. This should not have happened. It has just caused confusion, and as you have said, has also made people angry. However, the park is not in a stable position. What they had planned for 2016 could...

Re: Ride Closures/Removals in 2016

I think you all expected way too much from AT this year. You have to realise that the accident has caused a huge negative short term effect on the resort. Money is being saved through cost cutting measures; while areas are also be renovated. This process is not short term. In 2018 I expect to see th...

I really hope everything goes back to the way it originally was. The atmosphere was amazing with the music, effects, and ride experience.

Re: Towers Loving Care

To me, it seems like the fences are prohibiting even more floor space available to guests in the Dark Forest.

Re: Towers Loving Care

Hello, new to the forum! All this work in forbidden valley, CCL and Dark Forest is great but no sign of any TLC in X-Sector? I mean the Oblivion queue is in a state, as well as the entrance signage to it. Actually most of the Oblivion part of X-sector needs updating and restored. Not to mention wit...

Re: Ride Closures/Removals in 2016

After 34 years of soaking our guests, it’s time for The Flume to retire.

The above quote is from the most recent Alton Tower's blog. It also mentions the closure and removal of Ripsaw, as well as the recent changes due to Towers Loving Care. The blog can be found here.

Re: Towers Loving Care

With the new mesh underneath the launch of Rita, surely a tunnel is no longer needed. So what is the higher fencing for? Could it be a new entrance to the queue?

Re: Keeping Alton Towers Resort Safe & Secure

Alton Towers could make the theme park a "sterile" area, i.e. search people as they enter it, but should you decide to leave the park for whatever reason, i.e. to return to your car / coach / hotel room, then you would have to be re-screened upon re-entry as you could have picked up prohi...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

I am very excited by Galactica, even if I don't like the name yet. The VR technology is going to be extremely interesting, and every video or review I've seen about VR on roller coasters has been overwhelmingly positive. I know this forum hates change and thinks that Merlin can't do anything right; ...

Re: Ride Closures/Removals in 2016

What you seem to be missing here is that us non professionals are the ones paying for entry and keeping the professionals in a job. My interests are those of a member of the public that without the business would not exist.. Surely the park is run in the interests of both not one side, its a balanc...

Re: Ride Closures/Removals in 2016

What I dont get is... You've got to remember that your interests do not match up with the interests of the park, or bosses at Merlin/Alton Towers. They aren't just closing rides, or changing things, because they find it funny; they are doing it for a legitimate reason. It seems like the people on t...
