Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Haha. Guys, can we stop with the 'smile'/'corrected' jokes now?  Every post seems to end with a 'remember to smile! or 'I may need to be corrected on that fact'. Lol. No harsh feelings everyone. You sound like you need to SMILE more. Why not JOIN US, after all you have made many posts no...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

oh my goodness it's not cursed!

The Black Hole went cause it was it was 21 years old!

I've always found that area of the park to be blessedly nice. I liked the little rocks you could sit for almost no reason.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Ahhh brownies.

I'm looking at the bottom of the cars right now. Does anyone know what the things that look like CPU radiator/cooling fins are?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Firstly I must ask - are those scrapes as new as it seems? because I think they must have first started happening when the screaching started happening? Well done to anyone who pointed out that sound as ominous and didn't sway. Is it possible that something like this has been happening?: The wheel t...

Re: Thrillmad's 'spinning' annoyance!

I think I enoyed the ride more when I was fatter when I was skinny it seemed to hurt a bit but when I returned a few years/stone later it was awesome - I actually went straight back into the SR que a few times. Either that or they trimmed it. With this I saw a ride can be a very subjective experience.

Re: How would you make TH13TEEN scary?

I guess I would add some horrors to the bottom of the crypt (rather than the top) - to derive inspiration directly from ATs Sub Terra. I think the ride actually has a very classy look and the crypt building is beautiful but quite minimal at the same time, like some of the buildings in the area - I l...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

well that sounds much better that all this talk of stalling. How serious is stalling? Regarding those latest photos: I'm seeing for the first time what appears to be the female part of the magnetic breaking system on the ride vehicles themselves. I'm amazed at how finely cut the measurements are - t...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

To cause such deep markings on both sides of the track like that is so strange. I can't think of anything that would cause this? Other then a simultaneous seize of wheels on both sides. And then the force of the cars around it literally pushing the weight of the cars along the track on stiff wheels...

Re: What do you wear when you go to a theme park

I usually dress nicely because it's special to me.
It's a special occasion and the park is kept looking nice in a way that supposed to lift your spirits
so I try to mirror that as someone who is deep into the themepark.

Sorry found it too funny :)

Is there any chance I could get it on the NHS? Then I would get corrected every day.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I don't think there could have been cows. I realised immediately the cow is photoshopped into the picture but I thought they might just be illustrating a funny rumor. The reason I don't think there could have been cows per say is because Alton Towers would be entirely fenced in right, even though co...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Dr Kelman has closed the Smiler due to a patient attempting to vandalise the smiler( who was yelling that he didn't want to be free and nor should you!) and he now requires time to fix it
(so he's employed Zappomatic to do that)???? :D

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Ok. I don't agree with slightly shameless marketing strategies like tricking well meaning people into having their photo taken but I think if theres one area we can be understanding its Opening Day. I understand the frustration of people who have gone there, I do but I worry that your backlash might...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

the fact that the area was fenced of makes me think maybe they were working on the power down there I appeal to people to be forgiving - those who went there for opening day. You must realise though, that opening deadlines are never a good way to plan your day out. The project manager tries to keep ...

In my experience I would say the best approach is maybe to turn it off, and then back on again.

Has anyone else noticed there is a kind of head bopping that goes along with the "ha ha ha" bit in the music?

Re: The Smiler - Other Discussion

Something we ought to consider:

The indoor barrel roll and the glass floor would have been "secret elemants" had that info not leaked or we hadn't followed the construction so closely. So to say there is no secret element leaves Alton Towers out of a little bit of credit.
