Re: Thorpe Park 2013 General Discussion

Wasn't sure where to post this and didn't want to make a new thread. This guy rides a bike on Depth Charge and Storm Surge: http://izismile.com/2013/12/11/this_is_ ... an_do.html

My book of dark ride ideas

So I made a book which is currently out on the US version of Amazon. For some reason its taking a while to get to the UK version but when it does I'll update because it will be a third of the price cheaper!! http://www.amazon.com/MattsDesigns-Awesome-Dark-Ride-Ideas/dp/1492380008 It contains a lot o...

Sir Edward England feature on Cheezburger.com

I thought this was really cool since he is on the original lolcat (and failblog) site:

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Alton Towers describes the closure as 'Essential Maintenance' on their website. Well that's technically what it is. The ride is unable to continue operating without the issues being rectified. Actually it probably could run without those wheels, it's just not a good idea from a legal POV and genera...

Re: Park Music and Videos

I was thinking about future music again and I thought if the music was gonna go in a classical direction they might consider violins. Not violins as in orchestral strings but as in 1 or 2 violins playing folk style lines. I know this might sound a bit strange but violins go really nice with hilly co...

Did anyone actually notice a storm? I'm in the south west and didn't hear any wind/thunder.

weeing in the que line, I guess is not as bad tearing up something that was nailed/glued down...I mean suppose. ew. I hope it was a joke. I just wish the Phalanx would stop weeing in the lifts (of course they don't really, but I had a good suspension of disbelief). Seriously though.. The texting thi...

Re: Is The Smiler as head banging as SAW: The Ride at Thorpe Park?

its interesting how subjective the whole thing is. There's actually quite a few variables when you think about it: -overall weight of the car -how the weight is distributed -whether you brace yourself or relax totally -wheels. I'm surprised people sight wheels as having an effect but I guess they mu...

Re: LED lighting

I really thought they would be more popular by now. They use like 2 or 5 watts (compared to normal bulbs: 100 watts and compact fluorescent which use 11 watts)
The other big benefit is they bulbs last decades. I bought  LED golf ball for my bedroom in 2010 I think it was - its still going strong.

Re: People smoking outside of designated areas.

Haha.
I'll be honest, I did laugh but I really don't want them to burn the restraints. Maybe they could have had a cup of (cold) tea instead? That would have been more ride friendly if it went wrong.

Re: Rudeness to staff

E Cigs are fine for people to smoke where they want if you ask me, the problem is some staff members in all sorts of businesses are not trained to deal with people correctly, if you think about it, people who visit Alton Towers will come from all corners of the country, and I know for a fact that p...

Re: Rudeness to staff

its interesting, this lady just barged through the smiler que and said "that's my family is that ok?" It wasn't mine to say because there were other people infront of her, so mathematically she needs to clear it up with each of them aswell. Twice it happened to me that day and because I tr...

Re: Rudeness to staff

well I guess maybe they THOUGHT it was a real cigarette at first. When the staff member realised they probably had capacity to say "oh that's ok then" unless they have anxiety or something else that stops clear thinking.

Re: Rudeness to staff

I was on park last Friday and noticed a few incidents where people were arguing with staff over the smoking rule. One man was particularly irate at the fact that he was asked to kindly smoke his e-cig in a designated smoking spot. His reply wasn't on the pleasant side, and the staff who were trying...

LED lighting

I lifted to the bottom of my optical mouse up a minute ago and what I can see is that the LED is flickering very fast. The light looks "digital" so it made me wonder about LED lighting in the park(s). I don't know if this happens with every LED lamp but it happens with my star cloth when i...

Re: The Future of Nemesis Sub-Terra

You know what amazes me?.. That for more than a year and half of this ride being opened, I can only recall one time any one said anything about ride music . It actually feels about right now that music would be added but to be honest I have been thinking about it since it first opened, thinking that...

Re: Funny Things You've Overheard at Parks

There were some girls in front on Sub Terra, and one of them pointed out the single rider queue saying "Look, that's where losers go who come on their own."
She obviously didn't see me standing there, alone.. I was having a great time - not really "losing" anything only gaining!
