Re: Howl-o-ween

I took 12+ as a Fright Nights level attraction, as that's the number thrown around with a lot of those scaremazes. I'm no expert on such attractions, so I assumed you were referring to a high level maze, which would be far too much. Again, I think Haunting In The Hollows was about right for an "...

Re: Six Flags Fiesta Texas

I'd echo the mostly positive comments about the announcement, and I also share the concerns around the capacity of the ride. Could we possibly see separate load/unload stations or some sort of double loading system to counteract the impact of the small trains? I would hope so.

Re: Howl-o-ween

I believe last year's lineup was fairly poor, even by Chessington's standards. If I remember correctly, they had Curse Of The Lost Tomb, which had its entrance where the entrance to the Explorer Outpost Restaurant now is in Wild Asia, alongside Trick Or Treat Wood, which ran in the field to the east...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

Lol! My only thought is that having a Universal park here may detract somewhat from the appeal of Universal parks in Florida to UK tourists. Families don't tend to go to Florida exclusively for Universal though. The appeal of such a large Disney Resort with different attractions to Paris (which the...

Re: Funny Things You've Overheard at Parks

I've sat next to some ... interesting ... people lately thanks to Dragon's Fury Single Rider. My favourite from the past few weeks was when we were stacking really badly on the brake run, at least three cars from the station, facing backwards. Next car finishes the circuit and hits the brake run jus...

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach

I must admit I first looked at the ride and thought instantly we were looking at an intamin accelerator but I did have feelings of disappointment when i see that it's manufactured by MACK rides. http://liseberg.com/Global/Parken/Attraktioner/helix/helix_loop2_484.jpg?width=484&height=272 Just g...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

I'd agree that Universal is a possibility. Not letting myself get my hopes up because the idea of having Universal-level rides just an hour from me is overwhelmingly amazing. I think a collection of other companies is more likely than Universal to be honest, but I can dream. I genuinely think this p...

Re: Project 2020

It could be argued that Saw's vertical lift and 100-degree drop, which (if I recall correctly) was heavily featured in the ride's adverts, was its imposing feature that made it look scarier and "bigger" than it actually was, and was likely one of the reasons for its attention. Meanwhile, T...

Re: Project 2020

Also, it's interesting how a teaser can change the minds of so many... this time last year people thought a hyper would never happen :P I've always thought a hyper should be Thorpe's next coaster, and I think many people would agree, it's just more been a case of being unsure if Merlin would build ...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

I think it's a really good reflection on the Resort that I actually saw Francis Jackson's response before I saw the media reports. They shouldn't have to be doing this at all, but I'm glad to see they're doing it efficiently, hopefully stopping this from getting out of hand.

Re: Chessington - General Discussion

While I wouldn't have wanted them to announce what had happened on the sign or something like that, I think the fact that they didn't even acknowledge what had happened until the media picked up on it has left them far more exposed. Were they going to go on as if nothing ever happened and just prete...

Re: Chessington - General Discussion

It looks like eight of Chessington's 28 humboldt penguins were killed by an urban fox around a month ago, with the news only just leaking. It appears that the fox broke into the enclosure one night in late June, killing eight penguins and seriously injuring a ninth (who will make a full recovery). T...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

If you don't intend on doing the mazes than i'd say hold off with the fastrack as the rides go quiet once the mazes open at 3pm. Don't wish to interrupt, but this just reminded me of something. I'm really not a scaremaze kind of person, but I've always been interested in riding the coasters in the ...

Re: Travelling to/from European parks

Can't say I've done much European travelling myself, but this video does a great job of explaining things. It covers PortAventura, Liseberg, Disneyland Paris, Parc Asterix, Gardaland, Europa Park, Efteling, Phantasialand, Heide Park, Tivoli Gardens, Bakken, and Tayto Park. It's around 18 months old,...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

Sunday mornings are usually the quietest part of the week during Thorpe Park's peak period. You're correct, it will be busy whenever you go, but I've found that if you get there early (9:30ish) on a Sunday, you'll find that the park is relatively quieter until 11-12, mainly due to Thorpe's target ma...

Re: Project 2020

See, this discussion comes up often and I disagree. Assuming it is a hyper, Thorpe Park want it to "market itself", and for that they require it to dominate the park's skyline, as a hyper's height is its main USP. Stealth's main USP is, for me, its launch, which would still probably be the...

Re: The 'How busy will it be?' Topic

Tide times ooops! Yeah i did mean ride times, thank you!! I read on another post 50-90 minute queues for the big rides, would you recommend fast tracks? Never been before so would like the kids to get on as much as possible really as we live quite far away so dont mind purchasing the fast tracks I ...

Re: Colossus

It has been on one train all season, to the best of my knowledge, which isn't great considering it is one of the parks major attractions. Does anyone know what has happened to the second train? It ran on two when I visited at the end of June. Only time this season I've seen it that way, but it defi...

Re: Project 2020

We have to wait until 2020 ... *cries* This is very interesting. My money's on a B&M Hyper/Giga; it seems to fit all the hints: Throughput? Very high. IP? I'd rather it didn't but they could easily implement one. Reliable? Yes, it's B&M. Can sell itself? Anything taller than The Big One woul...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

As MM has said, no mention of this on their website, so I highly doubt that. If true, this is disgraceful as there would be no attractions available for guests shorter than 0.9m and/or not brave enough for Blade, Enterprise and the coasters during ERT.
