Re: Funny Things You've Overheard at Parks

Not at a theme park, but just in the taxi from the airport after a trip to PA, and the taxi driver said "Did you know Dragon Khan was once the biggest rollercoaster in the world?!" Not exactly true :/ I can see where the confusion comes from though. When it opened, it broke two world reco...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

Most of the park is nothing on Alton Towers, but you can still roughly see the theme of any area, and there are some excellent parts of the park, such as Saw and The Swarm, alongside Old Town back when it was Canada Creek. I wouldn't have a problem with rides like this if they were put in somewhere ...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

To be fair, it should be noted that the kiddies lost the Carousel for DBGT, so these could be seen as its replacement. It might have been nice to see some theming on the rides though ... they look really cheap and temporary (which they probably are :P) and so out of place in Old Town. I wouldn't hav...

Re: Thorpe Park - General Discussion

Quick question, Do you think it'll be busy on Monday (19th) as it is term time but I have just realised all the year 11's have just broken up. Thanks! As a year 11 myself, I can confirm that Monday 19th is the first day off for most of us. I would expect to see a fair number of kids there, but I do...

Re: Tayto Park

They have maybe yet to announce more park expansions? I think this is the answer. I'd say the hotel is likely to open in the early 2020s, so if we assume that we'll get a family coaster, thrill coaster and a few more flats/small attractions (which is by no means an unreasonable estimate, given thei...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

I also live around 3 hours away, so I appreciate the necessity to get a good day. Personally, I did my annual visit in the Easter Holidays this year (which I was nervous about), but most queues were no more than about half an hour, with the exception of The Smiler. I'd probably predict a similar cas...

Re: Knott's Berry Farm

So Boomerang has completely come down. I wonder how long it'll be until we see it in Michigan ... https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DBA46DlVYAAoG6X.jpg:large Credit to Shaun Harris I'm really conflicted as to what I'd like to see here. Cedar Fair have confirmed that they'll be adding 4 coasters to the cha...

Re: Walt Disney World - Disney's Animal Kingdom

My bad, most of what I've heard so far is positive. ;) From what I understand, most of the complaints refer to the length of Na'vi River Journey and the existence of only one AA, no doubt worsened by the fact that most people so far have waited several hours per ride. Obviously, I've never been out ...

5 hours today! It's certainly proving popular, and everything I've heard so far is positive. :)

Re: SeaWorld San Diego

Oh god, here we go ... I'm aware MM just posted something far more accurate than me, but I just spent ages writing this, so I'll offer my view on it anyway. Having visited a SeaWorld park myself, I can tell that the animals appear happy. You may tell me that they're trained to appear happy in shows ...

Looks like the first inversion to feature on a wooden coaster in Florida is coming along nicely! :D

Re: LEGO Ninjago World - 2017

Ninjago World has opened today, featuring Lego Ninjago: The Ride. Not much has really been done to celebrate, but queues have supposedly been approximately 90 minutes.

I wonder what impact, if any, this will have on Laser Raiders.

Pandora has soft opened, with Flight of Passage reporting queues of around 45 minutes (as of just under an hour ago)! Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

If we get a decent amount of airtime I'll be happy as AT the entire country is lacking in this area. Fixed :P I definitely think that if SW8 has a good amount of airtime, it will provide much better depth to the park's lineup, even though it probably won't be many people's favourite coaster. Seeing...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

I think some of your underwhelmed feelings may come from the fact that SW8 is going to be a more family-orientated coaster to follow The Smiler. There's unlikely to be anything too intense or "scary". Just something to consider. As for the secret element, I doubt we'll see anything too &qu...

Here's a photo from Tayto Park's website of the new water ride, which looks superb! http://imgur.com/PTrkQ7q.jpg Also, the park has submitted planning permission for a 250-room hotel to be built on-site. I'm not entirely sure why anyone would need more than one day at the park currently, and there's...

Re: Universal Orlando Resort

Also I wasn't going to say anything but why must everything have to bring in 'cultural appropriation' nowadays? It's an issue but is it really an issue here, in a theme park based around a fake island. These places are designed as a way to escape all that, can't we just enjoy fantasy for what it is...

Re: Fun Spot America Theme Parks

Looks quite cool, but $9 is a bit expensive in my opinion! How many rides are you getting?!! $9, roughly equivelant to £7, is hardly loads for a coaster of this magnitude at a pay-per-ride park in a tourist hotspot. Given that White Lightning over at Orlando and Kissimmee's own Wild Mouse, which ar...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

Just a thought but something that could be done. Instead of a regular accelerated launch, could the launch be random with the train going backward and forwards a few times up and down the first 'lift' hill before shooting forward? This would be very easy to do with magnets I mean, it could be done,...
