Re: Your Very First Rollercoaster!

My very first roller coaster, as far as I can remember, was the Runaway Train at Chessington, when I was about four, but the first 'proper' roller coasters was Vampire, aged seven, which is where the obsession with roller coasters started, really.

Thanks Dan! I'm visiting Thorpe tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be able to post up about that if someone hasn't already(?).

Re: Nemesis or Nemesis Inferno?

Overall, like many, I much prefer Nemesis. It's a lot more intense, which I enjoy in a coaster, and, to be honest, it is the classic. I find the loop on Nemesis a lot rougher, but in a good way, if that makes sense. Inferno is great too, but I just don't get the same thrill from it as I do Nemesis.

Re: The Future of Sonic Spinball

I think that Spinaball is either going to be reverted back to the Spinball Whizzer or the contract with Sega will be renewed to keep the ride as Sonic Spinball. To me, it seems unlikely that it will be made part of Cbeebies Land, as the ride is a bit too 'extreme' for young toddlers, so there would ...

I'm too much of a wuss to go in any of the mazes myself, but I'd love to hear what you guys thought of them!

Re: CWOA Runaway Train refurbishment

I wonder if you can see from the top of rattlesnake? Perhaps I'll have a look when I go on the 25th? Did you see anything Dan? When I visited in September my friends and I tried to peek over the barrier to see what was going on, but to no avail. It was pretty difficult to look when we were being ba...

Re: Tomb Blaster - Behind the scenes?

Tomb Blaster is the ride I would most like to see behind the scenes of at Chessington! It's all in the dark, plus you're concentrating on shooting, so it's hard to notice a lot, other than the obvious props and scenery. It would be really interesting to see what the place looks like with the lights ...

Why has loggers leap been sbno this year

I went on it when I went late September?

I went in late August, and it was open then too, so I'm not really sure what's going on with it. I'm probably going to be visiting on Tuesday, so I'll report back on whether or not it's operating.

Re: New Chessington Junior Coaster

My idea for a rapids ride: Dragons themed rapids, as conveniently near land of the dragons. Say in your boats of 6, you leave the station to a small drop. You turn the corner, and see some dragons, either side of you, mouths open, jets of water coming out. Next, round a slow, rocky and wet corner, ...

Re: How to ride Oblivion

I'd say that you just need to try to conquer your fears, and ride Oblivion without worrying over how you'll feel afterwards! In my experiences (well, I've only ridden it twice, but you can see where I'm going with this), the tenser you are, the more uncomfortable ride you will have. With hands clutc...

Re: New Chessington Junior Coaster

I personally think that it would be fine to have Toadie's Crazy Cars removed, as it is not one of the overly popular rides, at least not now anyway, particularly seeing as it is so similar to the more current Tiny Truckers. It's a very old ride, which I don't believe has been taken much care of at a...

Re: Is this the end of Slammer?

I personally think it's going to be SBNO for the 2014 season, and we'll just see what happens from there. It's a shame that it is almost undoubtedly going to be leaving, as a lot of us, myself included, never got to ride it. I first visited Thorpe for the first time in years back in spring 2012, and...

Re: when are you going - scarefest 2013

Unfortunately, I'm not going to Alton Towers again this year because it's too far away, but I am going to Thorpe Park with a friend at some point during Scarefest. She's still trying to convince me to go on Saw, but I've told her the only possible way I might go on it right now is blindfolded, weari...

Re: Colossus

Personally, I think Colossus is just too dated now. It's old and gives you a headache whenever you ride, except maybe if you queue for front row. I went in the summer, after not visiting for a year, and rode Colossus. The queue was literally colossus (if you'll excuse the pun  :)), and I had to...

Re: Attraction you'd most like a behind the scenes tour of?

Oblivion! Obviously, as it is my favourite Towers attraction, but also because I am just very curious about that black hole! Although I haven't actually ridden it yet, I think Th13teen would be pretty interesting too, what with the woodland and the drop.

Sub-Terra. There's no way I will ever ride it (I know you say it's not that scary, but I still absolutely hate stuff like that), so I'll just be selfish and remove it. :P

Re: Going it Alone

I've only really had one 'bad'- or maybe weird would be a better way of phrasing it- experience as a single rider, which was when I was riding The Swarm at Thorpe Park last year. I sat at the back on the right wing (this was before the backwards seats), and a random guy came and sat beside me. To be...

Re: Hold on Tight! Here We Go, Here We Go!

I usually hold on, but then again, it's more or less only the fact that I feel completely awkward when I raise my arms on a ride that makes me. I try to let go, but I just start feeling embarrassed, so I stop before it ruins the whole ride experience for me. Oh, the disadvantages of being awkward.&n...
