Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Hmm, I have to admit I'm warming to Smiler a bit more now, but it's never going to make my top 3 Towers rides while there's still three B&M's in the park ! But there's no doubt it's very very popular with the non enthusiast visitors, which is fine by me 'cos while they're packed in the cattle pe...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

It's quite ironic really, a ride that makes such a big deal over all those inversions and yet many people seem to rate the two little air time hops as their favourite parts ! they are the best parts of the ride tbh, as well as being a relief from the head banging :lol Yup, the little hops, especial...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

I think the disappointing thing for me with the VIP pass is that the fasttrack at Alton Towers just isn't a good system. Most of the rides were never designed to have an express entrance so you end up with the far from satisfactory queue lines at Nemesis, Rita, Air etc.. After seeing how well Portav...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

I agree Danny, I have no problem with the disabled getting priority access to the rides, it would be really hard or impossible for many disabled people to have to tackle the long queues regularly encountered at the Towers..

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

. It so happens that one of the cars had hit a bird with so much force that it so to speak exploded into feathers and body parts. . It's a first for me lol Some of the remains of poor old tweety pie are still hanging from the net above the fast track entrance today, looking like it's getting very r...

Couldn't use the exit at Rita today..

See, that's the sort of inconsistency that's becoming apparent with the VIP passes, today I was told I should use the Rita exit after using the fasttrack line the first time. ](*,)

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

Well, we picked up our three VIP passes today and although the weather was pretty crappy we had a good day. The VIP thing seems to be a bit hit and miss, I have to say the Rita staff were really good. I queued in the fastpass queue with my daughter, and as you know the Rita fastpass queue isn't real...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

Yes, at least over the phone it has, although the guy I was talking to had to check.
I'll ask again tomorrow when I pick up the passes (woohoo!) just to confirm.
There's nothing on the passes to say they were purchased with Tesco tokens so I'm not sure how they can tell ? :?

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

You won't regret it, it's an excellent investment compared to the standard passes If your kids are anything like mine they will love the free use of the waterpark which is a real bonus at this time of year, but also nice in the winter for a day out Also don't forget you can get a refund on the rema...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

I've now caved in and joined the VIP club for me and my two still at home grown up kids. We already have Annual Passes from the start of the year and have really got our monies worth out of them but I really couldn't resist the VIP upgrade. We've not long come back from a week at PortAventura where ...

Re: Best themed Coaster Thorpe VS Alton...

Swarm first, then Swarm second and finally in third place Swarm ! So yes, my vote goes to the pesky people stealing B&M robo-aliens. I think as an older coaster enthusiast theming has become more important to me and to the parks themselves over the years it would seem. It's no longer enough just...

Re: If You could bring back one past ride?

Yes, bring back the swan boats, they never ruined my phone the way those pirate boats managed to ! I rode corkscrew and black hole but they were both past their best by the end so removal was probably the kindest option, sort of like having a well loved but poorly family pet put out of its misery an...

Re: Going to Towers alone...

I'm quite looking forward to some "me time" on my own at the Towers this year, I work odd shifts so I'm often at a loose end mid-week while my grown up kids are at college or work so I'll be heading to Staffordshire clutching my newly acquired MAP !  :D It's only an hours run for me s...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

I made the first use of my first MAP yesterday with a trip to London with the intention of visiting Tuassards, Sea Life and the London Eye, but the oversized big wheel was closed for maintenance ! Still worked out to be a cheap day out for me and my youngest two, both teenagers, because I work on th...
