Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

In response to smoothness/upkeep speculation: Modern GCI appear to be pretty good for smoothness. Wodan (when I rode in 2016) was one of the smoothest woodies I've ridden - obviously, RMCs are smoother, but they less traditionally styled wooden coasters. Haven't ridden any other GCIs to compare, how...

Re: Heide Park

This has honestly made me quite sad. When I visited last year I was gutted to miss getting a ride on Colossos - I loved the rest of the park, but it was sad to see their biggest ride down. From what rumblings and rumours I've heard, it is possible that Merlin essentially left the ride to rot for a y...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

The chances of The Wickerman being related to an IP are incredibly small in my eyes - Alton hopefully will have decided for SW8, as with The Smiler, a custom theme works better than an IP. Personally I'd also agree with others in saying The Wickerman film is honestly a terrible IP, and I couldn't se...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

Gotta say - I like the logo quite a lot. I think on first preferences I prefer this to DBGT's logo; however, Smiler's will probably end up being seen as the more iconic one. The name is fine, about what we were expecting. I'll probably like it more when I get used to calling it The Wickerman (if tha...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

Seems there was a lot hidden in this video - good job everybody! Sorry I haven't had chance to try and contribute to this.  On an unrelated note, I've got to say that teaser left me a little underwhelmed. For one of the first major bits of SW8 marketing, I felt there was a lot to be desired. I think...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

This maze theme definitely will be associated with SW8 - my question is will the maze's theme be darker and more intense than SW8's (as seen between The Sanctuary having a darker version of The Smiler's current theme) or will the ride theme be just as dark as the Scarefest maze (as we saw on the ori...

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

Who's to say there's necessarily a secret element? Indulge me for a moment, if you will. John Wardley (admittedly who is not working on this project) has always talked about rides where the unique selling point is just that it'll be a great ride. As far as I'm concerned Merlin could probably sell sl...

Looks like a decent badge, a little disappointing it's essentially another just print badge though.

Re: Movie Park Germany

Wow, that's pretty impressive! Surprised at how much detail they've put in, especially for a smaller park. That said, I feel like Helix will still remain the ultimate in Mack Mega coasters.

Re: Galactica

I believe this will probably be be an issue with the new headsets - Shaman at Gardaland is also yet to operate with VR this season (however Shaman is a brand new attraction and will be much more popular than Galactica). I agree it's getting beyond stupid now. I'm pleased Alton Towers are trying to r...

Re: [email protected] Event Feedback

Another awesome event and the best one yet (I know I say this every time)! Smiler is always a wonderful ride to have ERT on - and I must admit it was definitely running a fair bit smoother than usual! I got in 4 rides, which was a pretty good amount. Ride takeovers were just as fun as ever. The Blad...

Re: [email protected] 6th of May 2017 - General Discussion

Another question - does anyone have any idea if John Wardley will be around before or after the Q&A? I don't know about others, but if possible I'd like the chance to either get a photo with him or get my copy of "Creating My Own Nemesis" signed :P

Re: SW9

I'd like SW9 to be a launched wing coaster from B&M - all of Merlin's wing coaster installations so far look/are consistently great, and are just pure fun to ride. If Alton Towers were to get one I think combining elements Raptor (ground hugging layout), Thunderbird (launch) and The Swarm (just ...

Re: Big Six Challenge

I know this has probably already been said - but I do wish Merlin would do something for the Annual Passholders who will get little to no benefit from this. Just a little something like a Big Six pop badge or vouchers for the restaurants/shops for people who complete it would be nice.

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

Honestly quite surprised that Galactica isn't running with the VR again yet - and even more surprisingly, I've not seen much of a backlash against it running without. I hope the new headsets are an improvement, even if I do prefer to ride without :)

Re: [email protected] 6th of May 2017 - General Discussion

By the way, will we need to submit questions beforehand for the Q&A with a God in the human realm John Wardley? Or will we just do the usually Q&A format where the speaker selects someone?

Anyone know who the manufacturer is?

Apparently a company called Interlink. They're supposedly a France/UK based water ride specialist. They have installed flumes at parks such as Daftö Resort in Sweden and Euro Park in France (such relevant parks, I know).
