Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Bit annoyed about that 'Bring A Friend' offer, because as a PMAP holder, one of the perks is 3 'Share The Fun' vouchers - would like to see this rolled out to the annual passes as well if I'm being completely honest.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

I personally think they've done it so more people pay £55 to get in, instead of £27.50 with 2-for-1 vouchers. Also, most of the people buying these will be visiting probably a maximum of 3 times for the season; especially considering all summer holiday weekends are blacked out, as well as Scarefest....

Re: Nemesis - General Discussion

I highly doubt we'll ever see the red river come back, mainly because Towers don't have the money, time and most likely effort to do so. As much as I'd love to see it make a return, the amount of plumbing needed to be done will probably be quite extensive, so I'm just happy we at least have running ...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

I strongly disagree with you about the theme being 'horror'. Yes, the theme is slightly dark, but definitely not horror! It is more of a cult/tribal theme, something Merlin hasn't done before.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

That was handed out though due to you having a bad experience as limited rides were operating, they weren't handed out because rides had queues. If the park worked like that people would be getting free fastrack for complaining a burger and chips costs £8.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Most people don't even bother to complain any more, the negativity of negativity can be found on Tripadvisor.  Also, I highly doubt staff give out free fastrack for people complaining about large queues, at the end of the day, it was their decision to get into the queue and not purchase fastrack - h...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

I really hate these staggered openings (as I've said multiple times before), like I understand they need to do this due to budgets, however, I feel at the bare minimum they should have all the coasters open at 10 am -  I understand if they don't open rides like Duel, Hex, Battle Galleons until later...

Re: Wicker Man General Discussion

I'd say off-peak it's averaged at around the 35/45 minute mark (but dipping to at least 15 minutes later on in the day) and during peak-weekends, I'd say 100 minutes and then holidays 120 minutes (if you're averaging it at the very least) then it seems more than common the ride will open on a good 1...

Re: Scarefest

I definitely think Towers should focus on more themed lighting at the very minimum this year,  at the end of the day it's just a filter and maybe one or two gobos. I'd love to see more smoke machines and maybe more moving heads or strip lighting (much like Katanga Kanyon) about the park, so, fingers...

Re: Scarefest

I really hope this year we just see a big shakeup in the events offering, both free and paid for. At the moment I think it's looking something like Sub Species 2.0, AMT and potentially TotT 3.0 (might even be wrong, I've lost count  :lol ). I would also love to see The Welcoming back again, maybe a ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Got on The Smiler once on Friday, and I must say it was a very smooth ride, and the last 2 inversions were far less jolty than usual, perhaps it was the warm weather? A few things that bugged me though... Had a very long wait for it (which ultimately was my decision, however, all the coasters had qu...

Re: The 'How busy will it be?' Topic

I'd imagine you'll be looking at 45-minute waits at the very max, with exception to Galactica, Wicker Man & River Rapids (only because it's very warm at the moment :lol) - all of which I doubt would being in excess of 70/80 mins. Have a great day!

Re: Europa Park

Europa Park really does gain my respect, it's so obvious they care about each and every guests' visit to the park.  If this were to happen in a Merlin park it'd just be left to the side with minimal work being done, with the majority done during the off-season. It really is great that EP is trying t...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

http://i64.tinypic.com/191mvd.jpg Credit to Towers Street It appears that the Towers are already shut for the season, most likely for Scarefest prep. If it is for Scarefest, I feel it's starting to get ridiculous now at how early they are shutting the Towers, as it felt ealy last year when they shu...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Staff and Recruitment

Rides is where it’s at! I’m biased though haha. I have friends on other departments though who’ve had good experiences. It’s a very social job and not for everyone, but I love it. Is being a Ride Host 16+ then? I thought Ride Op and Ride Host was 18+, but hopefully, Ride Host is 16+, that sounds gr...

Re: Alton Towers 40th Anniversary in 2020

I like the idea of the parade coming back. And then (even though the chances are beyond slim) 40th-anniversary bunting and garland would look great on Towers Street. Also, to celebrate, something along the lines of 'late night Saturdays' which consists of dusk riding and maybe an evening show on the...
