Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

It must only recently have been temporarily / permanently removed. I visited back in May and Rita's smoke was working then. I have not known Oblivion's mist to be operational since late last summer unfortunately.

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

May I just add that I was at AT yesterday and had a wonderful time! :D Although it was eerily quiet all day, and the biggest queue I waited in was for Air, but it was still only 10-15 minutes (due to a girl needing to be re-measured and wristbanded before they could despatch). I'd like to just comme...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Will be on park on Friday for an hour or two as GP. Will be interesting to gauge the atmosphere of AT and X-sector in particular considering it will be, for many school kids, the first day of summer holidays.

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Did anybody see the awful cgi reconstruction of how the two cars crashed on last nights BBC News? It was a very basic animation of the two cars crashing, and appeared to occur on the brow of a hill! It looked terrible and for the BBC, I thought it was very poor of them. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

If the Smiler is an 'experiment' by Gerstlauer, is there a chance they wouldn't shut their other coasters around the world, because they're running completely separate systems? Because the smiler was so innovative and new, is it likely that this is a completely different system that is not yet as se...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Absolutely devastated to hear the awful news about Leah. Amputation is such a difficult thing to come to terms with, especially when she's only 17, bless her. My heart goes out to her and her family and also her boyfriend (?) she was at AT with on Tuesday. It could have been anyone, it's a shame she...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Even in a complete alternate universe, if the Smiler was to open relatively soon (before the end of the season, suppose in the next few weeks/months), how many carriages are there in total? Surely if they're two carriages down from this incident, it's limited their fleet to a minimum of 3 cars. They...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Hi, first post on here but have been religiously following this thread in particular in the wake of the recent incident. Now of course I don't want to come across as selfish or with a disregard for safety, and I really do hope the injuries sustained will heal (along with the emotional trauma!), and ...
