Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

Shame. The Rita one is on the Facebook now too.

They've started calling rides 'unavailable' instead of closed on the queue times site.

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

They can't start telling people that there's something wrong with it for obvious reasons so they have to just say it's routine maintenance

Re: Area Speculation and Discussion

I'll be a bit annoyed if Wardley isn't mentioned or used as an easter egg somewhere in the ride. He is the backbone of the entire park and introduced the UK to the Theme Park model. I definitely think the GW thing is incorrect in some way because it will be far too visible in the mutiny bay area and...

Re: Towers books

Theme Park Design by Davis Younger is a fantastic, almost encyclopaedia of theme park design. it will probably take me all year to finish it but it is worth the £39.98 I paid for it.

(I know its not really about ATR, but it does mention it many times)

Re: SW8 Speculation and Discussion

As much as it is an incredible idea, I really can't see it happening. I'm very unsure about the whole gloomy wood thing quite simply because it's miles away! the entrance on the plans is clearly in mutiny bay and I can't really see a way to redirect the queues to gloomy wood. Also, it feels to simil...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

The Big Six was a tiny thing that really shouldn't be hyped at all. its just a marketing thing. its not difficult to ride all 6 and the prize is a free ticket on probably the busiest day of the year. the GP used to brag that they achieved the big six and when I pointed out that anyone can and that y...

Re: SW9

I'd also like to see the Charlie building and the Wobble World building used for indoor attractions with a Dark Forest theme. I would love to see a dark forest themed water ride. you could probably keep the ride system, with a little refurbishment and extension. I think Alton towers needs a big dar...

Re: The Future of Sonic Spinball

I always thought that most of what Merlin were doing around the time Spinball was introduced to the park felt very 'temporary'. It was Dubai International Capital that built both spinball and rita. They got rid of all the best parts of ATR: hall of the Mountain King, Wardley and Secret Weapons ...

Re: Towers books

I noticed that no one mentioned Nick Sim's Tales from the Towers. That's an excellent read about the history of the park itself but also John Broome's other ventures. definitely worth it for kindle.

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

I would love to see a behind the scenes tour but I can't really get excited about it because I know how much Merlin would charge. The resort wide Galactica thing sounds great but I'm not sure how it would work with the theming. Also, would the film be replaced or would you chose? How would that work...
