Re: LWV opening-day mini-meet, April 9th

Fantastic little meet up. Couldn't get better really: Great company, great weather, a fantastic little park, and Europes 2nd Best Roller coaster. :P Nice early start with a 6.50 departure, and picking up John, Jordan & Dominique from Stockport, followed by Alex from Oldham. Everyone bar John was...

Re: Japan hit by massive earthquake

After shocks, even rather large in magnitude ones, can continue for up to a year after a large earthquake. Hopfully, with that in mind, the buildings have been designed for such a possibility, and to cope with future strong earthquakes.

LWV opening-day mini-meet, April 9th

Be sorted out on the day. Probably somewhere in Ripon, as it is not far from T'Valley

LWV opening-day mini-meet, April 9th

Probably around park opening time. 15 mins before would be ideal.

Re: Cheap Hotels Near Alton?

For the Weathervane, try the Old English Inns Website. Family rooms can be booked there. Most Third party websites such as Hotels.com etc only seem to allow double/twin room bookings for the Weathervane. Rooms cost vary, depending on dates, from around £40-£65. Booking through Old English Inns used ...

Re: LWV opening-day mini-meet, April 9th

Is anyone else considering attending, but doesn't fancy going from home to Lightwater and back in a day? I ask because it's about four hours each way for me, so I'm condsidering booking a place to stay and heading back on Sunday. By then of course I would doubtless be suffering from horrific Ultima...

Re: Justifying Price Rises & VAT

Alton Towers used to operate Off Peak/Peak/Premium days, up until around the end of the 2004 season. This was dropped in favour of one standard price throughout the year, and to simplify, and give more transparent pricing. After the removal of the tiered pricing structure based on peak/off peak time...

Re: The annual car park price hike. 2011 edition.

I was shocked at this as well. I can also see ticket prices hitting the £40 mark by the end of the season. But the point is even if it was £10 per car families and friends will still pay it. Did I see it right, walk up price is now £41.50? And putting up parking charges? Am I right in thinking that...

Re: Churnet Valley Railway link to Alton Towers

I am quite impressed with the progress so far in regards to getting the lines re-opened. Certainly not far off achieving the objective of having trains running to Alton Towers within the 4 year timescale set out a couple of years back. Even though The link towards Alton will still be a couple of yea...

Re: Churnet Valley Railway link to Alton Towers

From reading the article, it would suggest that they expect to open the line up from Cauldon to Stoke Station. There are ambitions to eventually extend to Alton Towers still, but this isn't likely to happen within the next 12 months as they will need to lay the track and other infrastructure, as wel...

Re: THORPE PARK Annual Pass Day

I have emailed Thorpe Park back to inform them that I will not be taking them up on the offer off 50% off a meal on my next visit as I will be highly unlikely to visit again, especially before April. I also pointed out to them that KFC & Burger King were also closed, and Pizza Hut were turning p...

Re: Second concert - 6th July 2011 - Black Eyed Peas

It was mentioned some time back when the suggestions the second concert would be on a weekday, that many other gigs take place during a weekday and are well attended. Maybe Altons location may have a slight negative impact on numbers attending compared to gigs held in City Centre locations, but I do...

Re: The Merlin Annual Pass

At least they have listened and seem to of learnt some lessons from Thorpe Park last weekend. This is much more preferable to any compensation being offered or even demanded. Some form of compensation is all good of course, but if nothing is learnt from all the problems experienced at Thorpe Park, t...

Re: THORPE PARK Annual Pass Day

I emailed Thrope, and sent a copy to Merlin. They do say up to five working days to reply though. They have replied to me, and offered the 50% off a meal on the next visit. But, this has to be redeemed by April. Not that I really wish to visit again anyway.

LWV opening-day mini-meet, April 9th

Did look in to stopping over but was too expensive. There will be a meal after we have had the day on park. That is being looked in to at the moment.

Re: THORPE PARK Annual Pass Day

Today was one of the worst days I have had at Thorpe for a long time. Myself, Alex, Jordan and Stu had made a weekend of it thankfully. I met Alex and Jordan in Liverpool on Saturday afternoon, and after partaking in lunch in the 1960's retro chav infested shopping centre known as St Johns Shopping ...

Where can you see British theme parks in 2021?

You all forgot to mention Merlin owned parks will probably be over the £50 mark for tickets! I mentioned it. :). I recall suggesting they would be about £55 for entry in to Merlin Parks. Sam, Towers was around a fiverto get in in the mid eighties. I remember the 1993 price being around £13-£15. Tho...
