Re: SW6 Construction Part Two

Saw it in the steel today and I have to say, I'm not all that impressed. The first drop really doesn't look very thrilling and overall it looks like a fairly mundane family coaster. I glimpsed a few sections of track though the trees and apart from a potential airtime hill, there was nothing very ex...

Re: Ripsaw - Is it meant to do that?

Yes, those are what I mean. They're used in situations such as pylons to prevent electrical current from flowing through the structure and grounding. The maintainance excuse ia a terrible one. Apparently the saw teeth were removed for a simular reason. Other large European parks such as Europa woud ...

Re: Ripsaw - Is it meant to do that?

It's just the brakes squeaking. It's been doing that for a while and it's nothing that will affect the safety of the ride. As for those who say that Ripsaw is past it, compared to the rusting 20 year old Soriani top spin that I rode at Hull fair on Friday (which was making all sorts of unusual noise...

Re: Photo Trip Report-Tivoli Gardens and Liseberg (Image heavy)

I don't think it even makes my top twenty now. It's weird how a coaster can be so different for different people. Oddly, Lisebergbanananaaa does. I love the ride. Again, brilliant to re-ride and just great fun. The last helix is exceptionally strong. It probably is very strong but for some reason I...

Re: Photo Trip Report-Tivoli Gardens and Liseberg (Image heavy)

Liseberg is basically the reason I wanted to visit Sweden and that's mainly because it contains what is said to be the best wooden coaster in the world. So the park had a lot to live up to particularly as we'd just driven back across Sweden to get there for its 3:00 PM (Yes three in the afternoon) o...

Photo Trip Report-Tivoli Gardens and Liseberg (Image heavy)

As is usual for our annual holiday, I attempted to pursuade my family to stop by as many local theme parks as possible. This year it was a tour of Scandinavia which for me was like a treasure trove of coasters that were on my wishlist. In the end we settled on Tivoli, Liseberg and Grona Lund. This w...

Re: Cloud Cuckoo Land Skyride Station Fire

Can you imagine running a land train up the path that runs through Katanga Canyon to Forbidden Valley on a busy day? It's pretty narrow at the best of times. Driving what is essentially a modified Transit with about 6 trailers in tow up it would cause chaos. The amount of time it would take just wou...

Re: Cloud Cuckoo Land Skyride Station Fire

What!? Again? Soon Alton won't seem the same without the bi-annual Skyride station fire. It's just a good job that it was at night and no-one got hurt. Alton really needs an alternative form of transport for when the Skyride is down as it's such a tempremental system which relies on absolutely every...

Flamingoland 15th July (Wordy)

The plan was to beat the crowds by going to Flamingoland in the last week before the schools in the area broke up. Unfortunately, this back-fired majorly as all of the schools were on their end of year trips meaning that the park was swamped by coach parties. Seeing as the park was busy, we headed s...

Re: Hansa-Park 2009: Fluch von Novgorod

This coaster shows Saw up to be a bog standard Eurofighter with a very highly themed box. Germany is once again showing us how rides should be done. It's easily the most creative use of the Eurofighter system to date. It brings it home for me just how unoriginal Tussaud's / Merlin have been of late....

Re: Happy Birthday Topic!

Thanks for the birthday wishes Hopefully this year I should get a car and get out to a meet. I spotted a few TTF members whilst riding Corkscrew at the farewell event but then it had its final revenge and broke down trapping us on the brake run whilst you all wandered off. So I should hopefully see ...

Re: Alton Towers Most Pointless...

Like I said, it's a good coaster but it's throughput is pathetic, it's out of place in its location and it's generally not suited to a park as large as AT

Re: Alton Towers Most Pointless...

The ugly games stall in front of RMT
The closing off of the viewing area behind said ugly games stall
CATCF ( Catastrophic Abolishment of Toyand Charm Forever )
The manure pile
Spinball, It's a good ride but Alton's really not the right park for it

Re: Guess the Coaster

A whole day and no correct guesses?

Seems like it's time for a clue

The park's name sounds like saying "The what?" in a certain language.

It's ambiguous but it's the best I can do without giving it away completely
