Re: The Smiler - Speculation

SW7 is innovative. Have you seen a cobra roll and batwing intertwined before? No Has there been a self-duelling mobius coaster before? No Does intertwining elements count as innovative?   Only in the world of marketing and hype  As for self-dueling mobious coaster, doesn't that require 2 ...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

If we, mere mortals, could think of a 'worlds 1st coaster'  then perhaps we would be 'one of them' designing it. IF we can't think of any new innovation, or a new 'worlds 1st' that doesn't mean that a professional wouldn't. At the end of the day, it is their proffesion . Although a lot of us k...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

That's not innovation, that's just creative engineering , utilising what space is available. As for the seating positions, before Wingriders, it was thought that there wasnt anything more that could be done. There is always room for something more in design As long as, as you say Dave, the gimmick ...

Anyway as i said i wouldn't hold your breath on the layout being what we see on those plans.

Do you know something we don't, Dave?!

EDIT:

And if it's not the same, I feel dead sorry for Nemmy who spent so long recreating the plans in No Limits!

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Vertical launch. *yawn* If there is a worlds first, then I expect it to be in the station where we can't see it. But if that's the case, then it's likely to be a gimmick, which I worry will detract from a solid decent coaster, which they are desperate for. What's happened to the worlds first additi...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

No idea if that image was shown to market research groups, it was a concept board that we found in the archives in November along with pictures of the existing vertical launch rollercoaster. Im not altogether sure the track layout on those plans is what we will get as the track doesnt require plann...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Someone brought it up a few pages back and I'm going to beat the vertical launch drum again. During the market research for Thirteen, the image below was shown to guests. I really think SW7 will be launched up the vertical section of track to give us our world first. The fact the image below alludes...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Considering there was a time lapse set up for The Swarm, it wouldn't surprise me if there's an official one set up for SW7.

This was the company that did it, so keep an eye on their site to see if there's anything for SW7 set up.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Nemesis has SW3 in the number plate Apparently this is untrue. SW4 in the concrete structure in the middle of the Oblivion queue. Stripped off several years ago. :( Are you sure about Oblivion? It's not a sign, it's actually letters that were moulded into the concrete structure. edit: changed the p...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

There is a 'stone' above the new toilet block next to The Swarm that carries the inscription LCXII - presumably a nod towards the code name, just like some of the coasters at Alton Towers carry their SW designation.  (I forget which ones ) Off the top of my head, the land rover by ...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

There's absolutely no problem with them using SW7 in the marketing! The general public will either ignore it, or will Google it. I once told one of my mates about the "SW" tagline and he ended up doing loads of research and found things like the SW4 Easter Egg in the Oblivion queueline dea...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

A hint of a theme!

DNA = double helix. This could be a play on the duelling nature of the ride. And the DNA strand looks a bit like coaster track!

Depends how fast the launch is - doesn't have to be forceful.

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

Isn't the whole point of it to be ridiculous? I do like the whole military yelling in the ear (indeed this happened to me on my first ride during batching, because of me being heavily amused by it), and it does allow for some good banter because staff and guests... I thought it was meant to be terr...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

⋅ Phalanx operatives need to change their methods - heard one of them ordering a five year old kid to sing "we are the Cheeky Girls" when I rode it on Monday ; hardly indicative of a professional military organisation. They need to act more impassive and foreboding - them strutt...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

If there is a Worlds first element, it's got to be before or part of the first lift. The fact it will have a traditional angled lift must stand for something, why else would Alton Towers opt for this when a vertical lift would have saved them so much space... and we know space was extremely tight. ...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

From what I understand of the sequence after the drop it sound like they are trying to replicate stitches great escape ride at disneyworld florida. In that ride you sit in a circle in the dark and some monster thing runs around the room, sneezes in your face and prods you in the back. I thought alt...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

The one thing I'm getting from this thread is that it isn't worth me goint to AT this year. I've only time and money to make the effort with one visit to either AT or Thorpe Park and I think it'll definitely be  Thorpe as I've not been since before Saw. Next year, hopefully Sub-Terra will have ...

OH!

There's actually a dedicated page on the Tesco site that lists all the products that offer the Merlin 2-4-1 voucher:

Re: Tesco Cereal - Merlin 2-4-1 Vouchers

I'm guessing it's all tesco own-brand cereals. You can't miss them - as Ripsaw Raver said, they've all got bemused animals on them. Specifically, though, this is the one that I bought: Multigrain Hoops EDIT - In fact, you can see the 2-4-1 offer in the top left corner of the picture in the link above.
