Apologies for the double post but just a quick update on Devils Creek Gold Mine, photos courtesy of the AdventureIslandGuide.com http://www.adventureislandguide.com/images/parknews/2008/05/P01-05-08_10.08.jpg A new sign covers up the old "Peter Pans" one. http://www.adventureislandguide.co...

Not surprised really by the price rise. Alton have degraded themselves to a level where they can only seem to pull people in with offers and this was always bound to backfire at some point. Especially when their offers are of such a large discount. I'm not saying running offers is a bad business mov...

Wow, the Mutiny Bay train looks great. Shame I just missed out on being able to ride it, but there is always next time. Certainly love the audio as well. Well done Towers and I cannot wait to see what the next monorail train is like! :)

Indeed Vik, when I was there on Thursday and Wednesday there was a fair few people smoking in each queue I seemed to join and not once was anything said by staff members via PA system or in person. The same goes for the rest of the park, the no smoking policy is a sham of the highest order. Tiny sig...

April 23rd and 24th

Decided to take the opportunity to visit Alton Towers as I had 2 days to spare off from work, stayed over at the Bulls Head Inn the first night and at the Alverton Motel the second night. Both were nice places to stay. Was at the park on my own on the 23rd which made the day a tad dull but I still t...

I am worried that the safety of rides at theme parks or just smaller parks is not very good. However, I do have a fear of travelling rides which have been set up for like 3 days only or something. Safety at smaller parks is just as paramount as all of the major parks, in-fact even fairs are safe. E...

Unfortunately though, if they did not have such announcements then idiots would get their mobiles out and ruin the ride and atmosphere even further. At least they've got a fantastic voiceover for the announcements. It was a ride op through a microphone, not a pre recorded announcement. Perhaps they...

I thought that too, today. Saw someone walking through Mutiny Bay in a "Heritage Restoration" hi-vis vest, but the people on the ride were just in regular ones. Plus the "Please put all mobile phones away otherwise the ride will not start" also kind of took a large dump over any...

This room features a huge videoscreen, from where a five minute lasting video is played. Professor Nicholson introduces himself and explains the legend. He pays the old oak a visit the way it stands nowadays, and shows old footage of it as well. Explaining the old story, the legend goes that the oa...

Glad to see the new train, I quite like it. I'm honestly not too fussed when it comes to theming on the Monorail. I'm just glad that it looks fresh and well presented, unlike what it used to be, tacky and run down.

Cannot wait to see how the other trains turn out. :)

It still has not sunk in yet, but it is good to hear the Police are treating it as suspicious.

Cannot believe this, I knew things were starting to pick up behind the scenes and some sort of announcement was due soon but I'm sure this incident has set all of the recent progress back...it seems all too convenient if you ask me.

What a huge shame. :(

April 24th?

I shall be at Alton on the 24th of April (Which is a Thursday I believe), so if anyone fancies joining me or is on park themselves that day let me know. :)

I'll be in London that day, although I shall be going to see the Lion King at 14:00, so I could meet up for either a bit before or afterwards depending on where you shall be and at what times etc.

Oakwood Sold!

That's right, Oakwood has been sold to the Aspro Group. http://www.joylandbooks.com/news.htm#Oakwood_ http://www.westerntelegraph.co.uk/displ ... _group.php I knew there was a potential buyer but that all arose quite a while ago, so it's all rather sudden. Hopefully Oakwood still keeps its charm eve...

Really enjoyed it, as soon as I heard ITHOTMK I was over the moon, great to have it back and lets hope it never parts again. Overall it's a nice advert and rather magical, especially the final shot.

Bravo! :D

Great recreation! Although I never got to experience this paticular Looping Star I did manage to get a fair few rides on the last incarnation of Looping Star before it's removal in 2002. Such a shame Dreamland has turned out the way it has, although I look forward to the heritage park, even though t...

This news has been long overdue and I personally cannot wait to see how it's pulled off. This really is turning out to be the most exciting season in years, go Alton! :)

I hope there is a Hex section, that would be fantastic!

Personally, I think that it's a step in the right direction for Alton Towers, and to be the first park in the UK to ban smoking (apart from in designated areas of the park) is a very brave move, Alton Towers are not the first, in fact they are the third, Legoland was the first UK theme park to enfo...
