Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Just looking at some of  gerstlauer launched roller coasters it could well be part of a lsm launch http://www.gerstlauer-rides.de/assets/d ... oaster.pdf however why it would need friction brakes too is a mystery so perhaps not.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

It could well be part of a secret/special element. We are allowed to take photos of anything that's in a publicly accessible area just as anyone else is!  8)

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

An unusual section of track has arrived! For some reason it is being stored on its side. See photos here:

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Everyone knows that there is going to be some kind of special element or something there. All I have confirmed is that at this stage there is currently no "SW/SE" in that location. Quote from: sibic on Today at 02:23 PM so do we think the sw is now in place as their putting footers in pla...

Re: Ride designer John Wardley to retire

John you're a true legend and the UK theme-park industry wouldn't be what it is without you. You have rescued parks like Chessington from failing, been involved in some way with most of the major roller-coaster's in this country, and a lot of other's around Europe! A true legacy in your field, and i...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Just to make it clear to everyone, this is the area Alton Towers managment have asked us to blur out. It doesn't necessary mean much is going on at the moment. The team know very little more than you at this stage, however we are working with Alton Towers to try and bring you something special. MI7 ...

Working in the Laser Tag industry myself , the ride system was designed by Mega Zone. What th guys above have said is true, but that was when it was the haunted house.

Downtime

Sorry for the downtime guys, we didn’t realise old backups weren’t being deleted and we managed to accumulate around 8 months’ (one taken every day at around 4am,) and we maxed out our server space, This caused the server to crash during the backup taken this morning. The forum was unfortunately cor...

Re: Alton Towers profits fell sharply in 2011

From what I've heard profits have been much lower than expected in 2012. I don't want to reveal exact info as it could get staff in trouble. I would put it down to the recession, but since we have only seen growth in my area of business (Laser Quest) over the last year, the weather/insufficient mark...

Re: November 25th 2012 : Residents to oppose Alton's Lodge Plans

Its a great concept, however The sad thing is that this will take away a lot of business from small business owners who run similar accommodation and B&B's. Great it may create 50 new jobs, but put as many local businesses out of business. I much preferred the concept of a casino hotel. I know t...

Re: What slide would you like to see in the Waterpark!?

There are always plans in the wood works to expand the waterpark, especially the outside area. Given the opening hours I really don’t think it generates much revenue for the resort. I’m not tight when it comes to “splashing out a bit of cash”.. but don’t even consider the waterpark anymore. It’s too...

Re: New Park Entrance?

It's been brought up and proposed on many occasions. I would be surprised if it did happen, but the long term savings of not running the monorail and having guest closer to a point of sale throughout there Alton Towers experience might make it worthwhile. A completely new enterance would cost a fort...

TowersTimes V3

Hey guys & girls, since when I've been involved with TowersTimes in 2001 (yes we are infact 11 years old not 10) we have had just 2 major updates to the site design. We are in the process of producing something very special by moving away from static pages and adding more illustration, design, i...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

“The Smiler” Ok we don’t know this is going to be the name yet as no sources have confirmed, however let’s think outside of the box of this being a bad name for a ride by giving it a suitable scenario and theming. To begin with the “The Sanctuary” was built as a test zone that failed to rehabilitate...
