Surely that means that the car hardly picks up any speed at all, unless they are very, very light. That would explain its nomination as the world least exciting coaster anyway!

Thats why you should never let environmentalists design a coaster for you

This is the worst ever. You have to go in a lift to go on it! http://www.rcdb.com/ig2493.htm Is that ride trying to be an environmentally friendly coaster (its described as being people powered by RCDB)? No no, personnaly, i think X-no Way out Thorpe park is the worest. Yawn, sleep. night night. Zz...

To be fair most coasters posted in this topic are kids coasters so aren't meant to be thrilling to people over 6. Making a really exciting portable coaster is difficult too, so how about posting rides that are meant to be 'proper' coasters (ie: aimed at thrilseekers) but are, in fact, just plain awf...

OK Squiggles: you are old fashioned (sorry couldn't resist). They could just buy a few portacabins to replace the offices. That should just scrape in under the £1million mark. Seriously though, they should definately relocate the offices - towers street should be just stuff for the park guests. Havi...

The first drop on nemesis is quite deceptive, it looks smaller than it is. Obviously the top of the first corkscrew has to be a fair bit lower than the top of the lift hill, so that gives an idea of how high the drop actually is. Most of the first drop is on the corner after the lift hill so it feel...

I prefered the old log flume, it fit in much better with merrie england, and IMO the new theme is a bit naff, having said that, away from the station (and the tunnel) there isn't really much difference. Given unlimited money, I would have kept the origonal unthemed log flume and rebuilt the section ...

OK this topic is getting seriously wierd now - I don't think alton towers are going to pretend to kill guests again, they kind of did that with oblivion and having two major rides with the same basic storyline would be rubbish.

The reason they have taken it down is because we spotted the Amity Speedway at the top through the cover. Well done TP! But why would they care? The name is going to be released very soon anyway! Possibly, but they'll try their hardest to prevent any news of the name getting out before its official...

I think one day they will remove Air from the park Do you mean in the next few years? Air's still pretty much new! I can't see them removing it for ages yet - if they did then building it would have been a complete waste of money. Air usually has one of the longest q's so it seems popular enough. I...

TOTT all the way - I haven't been but it sounds great. Having said that I've never been on hex either, because I've been on two other 'revolving room rides' elsewhere - haunted swing at BPB which is an ultra cheap version, and Villa Volta at Efteling, which which is much better than Blackpool's but ...

Oblivion needs repainting as soon as possible, it looked so much better in black. Just little touches is all that's needed to restore the magic of AT theming. I really thought i had imagined oblivion being black when i went this year. Bright colours can be used in some areas but wouldn't work in oth...

At the mo FV isn't set up to have an entrance there - there's only one main path into/out of it and its not suited to getting large amounts of people to other areas of the park. The current entrance is perfectly placed for crowd dispersion - people can go left to FV straight on to ug land or right t...

I don't think any areas need retheming, just a bit of tidying up and a bit more scenery in some areas is needed to make it obvious what the area actually is - e.g. most people wouldn't know what merrie england is meant to be without looking at the map. The theme for forbidden valley, x-sector, katan...

Just because its a woodie doesn't mean it won't be unique - it could be a new type with something never before seen on a wooden coaster, no idea what it might be though. The one thing alton towers is lacking (in terms of coasters at least) is a woodie and it seems that both AT and JW want to build o...

I certainly wouldn't complain about another flyer in the UK, just as long as it has a more tasteful colour scheme than Tatsu's!

Whatever goes on the black hole site I think they should get rid of the tent. A replacement dark ride would be good, but some people might not realise its new if its in the old tent - a new building would make people take notice.

This is only sort of related to the other stories but here it is anyway: Every time i go to alton towers with my family we go on the runaway mine train at least once - not because its one of my favorite rides but because mum always agrees to go on it and then always screams all the way round! After ...

With the current trend of battling for records even if AT gets the fastest/longest/whatever coaster, some other park will try to go one better as soon as possible. The record would probably be beaten before construction began, which would be a complete waste of money. Investment in a new technology ...
