Re: Park Opening Hours 2012

Terrible news this sort of stuff directly affects guests enjoyment of the park, and people will vote with their feet.  It's hugely frustrating to see the parks I love being driven into the ground. Under Merlin, the long-term outlook for the UK parks is looking increasingly bleak, despite (on th...

Re: Drayton Manor Park Future

^ The season pass has seen a price hike - it's £60 this year and doesn't include parking, which can be added on for an additional £15.

They don't really, any high capacity family ride would do.

Re: MINI MEET: PBB - Saturday 25th Feb

I wrote one on PBB but never got round to doing one on here... PBB trips are always great fun and last week was no exception.  The day started off in the standard fashion with rides on Flying Machines and Derby Racer whilst waiting for people to arrive and everything else to open.  Low cap...

Re: TTF Euro Coaster Poll 2011-12: THE FINAL! VOTE NOW!

After much deliberation, this is what I've settled on: 1. Expedition Ge Force* - there's just no contest here, EGF is the best coaster in Europe by a huge margin. 2. Katun - maybe a slight B&KM invert fanboy vote here, but this looks spectacular.  I didn't realise just how enormous it was u...

Re: TTF Euro Coaster Poll 2011-12: THE FINAL! VOTE NOW!

As soon as the results of the second semi were revealed I started trying to put together my order for the final.  Since then I've gone through and changed it several times and I'm still not entirely happy with it.  I'm not even sure if I'm happy with my orderings in the semis. I know I'm p...

Re: PB River Caves, due refurbishment.

I've always been a big fan of River Caves, it's such an understated ride and has a real sense of going on a journey  that most big-budget dark rides can't pull off.  That's not to say it couldn't do with some work though, some areas are looking very tired at the moment.  The facade wa...

Re: Drivers! How many lessons did you need?

If possible, I recommend you try and get some practice in away from public roads before your first lesson.  Get a feel for getting into and changing gear, steering and stopping safely somewhere you won't hit anything if it all goes wrong!  It will make your first proper lesson much less in...

Re: TTF Euro Coaster Poll 2011-12: Semi Final 2: VOTE NOW!

Surely that shouldn't be influencing the votes though?  Obviously Europa is leagues ahead of Oakwood but I'm not going to vote down Megafobia just because the rest of the park isn't all that.

Re: TTF Euro Coaster Poll 2011-12: Semi Final 2: VOTE NOW!

1. Balder - My most-wanted European woodie at the moment.  OK so it's much smaller Colossos, but the layout looks far better 2. Black Mamba * - Nemesis Mk II.  Lacking slightly in intensity, but the theming (almost) makes up for it. 3. iSpeed - Looks spectacular, though the restraints cou...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Many Intamin, Arrow and Vekoma coasters have an unarticulated, self-supporting front or rear car with  wheels front and back, each car is articulated in the same way, relying on the one in front/behind for support.  B&M coasters have a single set of wheels on each car, with limited fle...

Re: TTF Euro Coaster Poll 2011-12: Semi Final 2: VOTE NOW!

Ah OK, fair enough.  I'm not really fussed about theming on coasters, but presenation and landscaping still counts for a lot.  It certainly helps in the case of Black Mamba, which looks absolutely stunning but doesn't offer quite as strong a ride experience as Nemesis. My full ballot will ...

^ You've knocked iSpeed, Piraten and Silver Star for their lack of theming yet put 3 entirely unthemed rides top?
