I compulsively masturbate over pictures of Oblivion.

Re: Cloud Cuckoo Land Skyride Station Fire

I would think they anchor the existing cables and use it as a pull through for the new one.

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion

To be honest the 'family coaster' tag is generally misconceived by the majority of enthusiasts. It is a general term used by manufacturers to mean basically anything other than a ride aimed at little children. I have yet to see a coaster sold as an adult, teenage or thrill-seeker coaster. The word f...

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion

What I want to know is am I going to get a ride on the preview weekend?

If Alex the cage fighting c*nt gets a seat without paying a penny I want a go for my £££'s...

Anyone feel the same way?

I think you will find he is sitting on the train, not riding it.

Re: Ug Land / Rita 2010

I just have three things on my wish list:

Theme Rita's maintenance shed, or should I say shipping container?
Change the style of the Q-Lines so that they are much more interactive and "old" looking.
Plant the place like the garden of Eden.

Re: Ug Land / Rita 2010

I hate to bring it up and ruin the fun, but the 'general public' really don't care about the story behind an area that much, they just think "OMG look at the coaster in the castle". I don't think any of my friends know about the idea behind oblivion, nemesis or whatever, they simply see it...

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion

The Rita re-theme has begun! http://web6.twitpic.com/img/61633292-ac85b575ba08d8155dc2d9edf669ba81.4b658df9-scaled.jpg Looks like they are going for the "Race track having been taken over by the dark forest" look? Judging by the fact Control is still written across the front? Just PLEASE ...

Re: Credit Whoring?

You mean more geeky than people on a forum dedicated to Alton Towers? Or any other forum related to theme parks or amusement parks? Joe public think we are all geeky! And I've got friends who think that I'm mad for going anywhere near a ride. Yes, much. Because TTF despite being based around the To...

Re: Credit Whoring?

If Im honest these type of coaster fans are more of the 'geeky' RCCGB variety, whereby they practically orgasm over the prospect of riding a new coaster. Something TTF lacks, which is my main reason for visiting.

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion

I see your point, but i don't agree that it is better suited to application on 13. Hydrulics actually don't take up that much room at all. Ever seen a hydraulic crane when it is retracted? They take up as much room as the base telescopic cylinder. This means that you would not only be able to add si...

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion

In fact, I really can't see how hydraulics can necessarily take up less room: that video you showed shows that the hydraulics would take up pretty much all space beneath the track, and that's not including the compressor. A cable system would require minimal space in the shaft - just need somewhere...

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion

Here's a thought: everyone talking about a drop is talking about hydraulics. Why? Why not a cable system, like on Tower of Terror? There may not be room for the necessary machinery above the element, but what about in the pit, below it (with a pulley system similar to that of many lifts)? This is j...

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

If it helps I live in a Grade II listed house and all the trees in the garden are protected, however, we are allowed to erect semi-temporary structures under I think its 2 meters, so long as it does not penetrate any of the roots. Im sure they could get away with it, its not exactly going to impact ...

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

Im going to make a random music suggestion:

Globus - Preliator

Obviously it would be edited to a slightly more appropriate format. It's most likely a bit too powerful but what the heck.

[Btw its worth watching just for the pure epic nature of seeing such a strong song performed live]

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

on the subject of sound technology. This is something I have always wanted to see installed in a theme park ride - click! It produces hypersonic sound which is highly directional. It has many interesting uses in the theme park environment, one of which would be to create the effect of someone talkin...

Not necessarily. It was removed when Rita was built as far as I can remember to allow access for tall vehicles.

ncidentally, I think these are much more likely to be professional models than real construction workers. Either that, or they have some unusually good looking guys working there
