Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

Those piles are a form of re-enforcement. If anyone has seen what they are doing to the M25 at the moment you will see that rather than widen the road and then build a new embankment, they have used this technique to create a solid wall in place of an embankment. What this does indicate however, is ...

Re: Towers Restoration

They may hold mystery and character, but then one also has to bear in mind the sustainability. I personally would like to see the towers restored to the point of being weatherproof; something which I think is badly needed. I mean quite frankly do not understand why they have never chosen to cover it...

Well I think it's interesting how the concepts were ENTIRELLY accurat

Really? I didn't see a great big tree running up the side of the building in the concepts?

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

Ride programs could be set to different noise levels and such, thus the less screams the more intense experience.

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

It may be 'a plastic cast', but you are paying for a highly skilled labour which goes into creating themeing. It is all hand made and painted.

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

The wraiths mounted at the entrance to the Q-line... .from what I remember, one is intact and the other has it's head missing in order to create an abandoned feel?

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

It is based on a true local legend and is about a curse, not wraiths. Because of this I doubt they will link the rides.

Correct me if im wrong but is it not an old haggard woman also known as a wraith who puts a curse on the Earl?

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

Am I the only one who thinks this is somehow going to get tied into the Hex story, a large tree, wraiths... you know? It don't half send alarm bells ringing? They could even encourage people to pre-ride hex in order to get a better feel for the ride?

Re: Thorpe Park: Future Discussion

The one thing I wish Thorpe would sort out is the entrance to the park; it is quite simply appalling. The pavements are patched and falling apart, temporary crowd barriers being used all year round, outdated and tatty buildings... its just one big mess. So much for making a good first impression.

Re: 2010: Corkscrews for the Entrance Plaza

We recently had glass balustrades installed at home; their answer to overcoming fingerprints was to put matt effect laminate on the glass... works a treat. As you can see below you can choose the levels of intensity. http://vizdepot.vismasters.com/common/images/products/photos/features/vraymaterials...

Re: Bidding war to ride thirteen first - disgrace

I'm just saying I don't think its right that all the rich people get everything first

Welcome to the world of capitalism. Anyway, its for charity so big deal. I think it's a great idea, although I would rather it go to a external charity or local hospice rather than MerlinsMagicWand.

Re: Ug Land / Rita 2010

Alton Towers' February event in 2010 looks set to be the biggest yet, with more of the parks rides and attractions open than ever before. With Nemesis now added to the line-up, all of the parks coasters will be open with exception to Thirteen (which opens on March 20th) and Rita - Queen of Speed (w...

Any chance of a nice summery post of links/info for those who have missed the last few days discussion... having it split over forums makes it even harder to put together. 8-[

Re: SW6 Ride & Construction discussion.

Dormiens-Dave I am pretty sure the 'ironing board' system as a drop would use hydraulic rams mounted horizontally in order to move. Thus being pretty efficient.

Re: SW6 Ride & Construction discussion.

That's a very good idea, the best new idea there's been in ages. I think it's totally plausible and affordable. If you think about it, Towers already have a very similar ride with similar technology nearby. What ride near SW6 has screens all around you, taking you on an immersive "rollercoaste...

Re: SW6 Ride & Construction discussion.

Something thats always grabbed my attention is that thing on the back of the lorry. If it is readily constructed then its got to be pretty heavy and the building is quite high so. How the heck are you going to lift something that big and heavy so high into a building. The crane would topple over. I...
