Re: 2010: Secret Weapon 6 Part Two

I remember vaguely seeing an old map a few years ago which positioned the Slain Hollow battle site IIRC roughly towards where the old station and gateway is at the bottom of the hill. This coaster site and Ugland is literally perched on the top of that hill as you look up and is effectively between ...

Re: 2010: Secret Weapon 6 Part Two

I believe that the known fort remains are as I've drawn on the below plan. Please excuse the other stuff; it was part of my own half-done masterplan of the park. I was planning an area themed around this fort infact. http://www.vusus.com/fort.jpg You can see Rita in the bottom right corner. Charlie ...

Re: 2009: Cloud Cuckoo Land, Skyride Refurbishment & Shows

The more I think about this the more I can imagine the old Earls turning in their graves! :P Really, they would have probably loved some of the high tech coasters that have been added to the parkland to entertain guests in the most elaborate and stimulating way (Oblivion in particular), just like t...

I really like the ATH one, better than last year and as Wes said, harks back to the hotel's origins!

Re: 2009: Cloud Cuckoo Land, Skyride Refurbishment & Shows

Awful name and an awful theme for Cred Street! Alton Towers has really become way too cartoony. It sounds very much like Cred Street rebranded rather than a change of theme. Where is the magical, aweinspiring realistic themes that have the atmosphere and quality to please adults and children alike?...

Re: Alton Towers' 10-year development plan

Simon and Satch, you are right that the British aren't totally adverse to camping however that is irrelevent - what is relevent is how much of Alton's target audience like camping. A typical Alton Towers family at the moment, especially with renewed focus on young kids are not usually the ones that ...

Re: Alton Towers' 10-year development plan

I think Kaz is right here when you look at it. I highly doubt Alton could get a tipi village for instance. Firstly because British families generally don't like the idea of that type of accomodation; and those who wouldn't mind, more towards a teen market, well the whole village would be wrecked in ...

Re: 2009: Sharkbait Reef

This is a nice addition and with quite a good name, however I do find the positioning of this strange. Would it not have been better value for money to have put this with the hotels? The fish don't disappear at closing time and over the winter break and nor do the bills. It'll need a large upkeep bu...

It doesn't look much more than a themed Spinball Whizzer though. Hardly a proper SW investment.

Re: Alton Towers' 10-year development plan

Surely after this 2010 coaster the focus will be on opening a major ride for 2012? This will enable them to capitalise on the focus on the UK during the Olympics which normally spins off a lot of interest in the wider country and things to do there.

Not always. The most recent major European coasters, including Black Mamba and Blue Fire, have cost around £16,000,000.

Which is pretty much the same price that Nemesis cost when it is adjusted for inflation.

Re: 2010: Secret Weapon 6 Part Two

Well how much does this one cost? And how come they have been able to afford coasters such as Air, Oblivion and Nemesis in the past? Perhaps it's due to their less guest - more spend per head model which has been the major business change since then. This can't be pinned on the credit crunch because...

Re: Alton Towers' 10-year development plan

The next step after 2010 HAS to be at least 1 or 2 dark rides. They've stated their intent for extended season opening - possibly meaning Christmas park openings etc, but they need the rides to support it. People WILL go on the likes of Nemesis in the cold, but people also want nice warm indoor rid...

Re: 2010: Secret Weapon 6 Part Two

So having seen the whole track are you all still uber excited? It's not the quantum leap that was being waited for during the 2007 and 08 seasons at all. It looks like it will be a small but decent, fast paced thrilling coaster, not all that long though. It looks like you'll get a couple of nice bit...

Re: 2010: Secret Weapon 6 Part Two

There's absolutely no way they can get away with that and not have a total retheme of the whole of Ugland, including everything about Rita, even it's name. And it doesn't look very much like Dark Forrest - more of let's continue the Mutiny Bay castle somewhere else lol.

Re: Thorpe Park 2009: Saw - The Ride

If they are clever they will use small, thin jets of air where the saw is so as you whizz past you feel a line of pressure momentairly across your face etc. Similulating a cut. Maybe the speed will be too high to invalidate this but it's worth a consideration.
