Re: Will Alton Towers ever close down?

There was a time when visiting the seaside was the Great British getaway. The seaside industry boomed creating many seaside attractions and huge piers popping up all over England. Here we are 100 years later with most of the piers rotting away and attractions redeveloped into luxury flats etc. Black...

Re: 2010: Secret Weapon 6

They wont rename Rita, though I can see it being re-themed as Rita: Witch Of The Forest, or Queen of the forest. She could be some sort of ice witch like the one in Narnia. A snowy re-theme perhaps?

Re: 2010: Secret Weapon 6

The fact its named SW6 means it will not be a Eurofighter. The current park management are more aware and more loyal to AT heritage than ever before. They know exactly how disappointed the fans would be if a ride was code-named SW6 only to turn out to be a Eurofighter something they've just built at...

Altons lack of anything for years? Rita, Golf, Charlie, Revamped Eye Spy, Overhaul of all signage, Nemesis lick of paint, revamped monorail, return of Halloween in a big way, Mutiny Bay.... Nooo they're really holding back aren't they? What Alton's done over the past few years is actually very, very...

Being a Corkscrew fan I desperately want something like this to happen. Sadly, the truth is in 12 months time we'll be drinking out of her - scrap metal is selling at high prices these days and ultimately Merlin is a business and they will sell her off to the highest bidder. Ultimately she'll probab...

Corky stalled on the lift hill yesterday, then after unloading something happened to cause the ride ops to shut down the ride due to technical issues. I would have been on the next ride but after waiting 10 mins decided to move on towards Mutiny Bay. Yesterday was the first time I really noticed how...

You know They have just as much right to their profits as independents. I guess the amusement industry isn't corrupt like the record companies and the supermarkets are corrupt and exploit their customers and staff. That's why I was advocating this - in such an economic down-swing it's morally justi...

Just a thought. Have you ever considered that it is because of people like the Ropers that Alton has its unique magical quality? If it weren't for Roper-types there would be no height limits, no noise limits. Alton could do whatever it wanted. Considering it is surrounded by some of England's most b...

Why are people bothered so much about the economy, it's only going to effect the rich anyway? Here's one golden tip for surviving the "recession": steal things Make sure though it is from big multi-national global corporations who screws their workers instead of a small independent shop k...

Meh, if I get made redundant then I get made redundant. My life still goes on with or without a job, not to say it wouldn't go on differently. And I don't deny the importance of politics at all -- I'm merely saying I'm really not interested in it. My sudden interest (note, interest, not action!) in...

*yawn* Sorry, who's doing what to cause what now? :? Politics for the lose :D A very disappointing post. While I won't pretend I take an overly active interest in politics I always try to ensure I have a rough grasp of what's occurring Politics effect everything you ever do. And right now politics ...

I don't know why some are saying that the age limit will be 15s and over. Given the two trailers we've seen from Thorpe so far I'm thinking a more educated guess would be 13+ only.

I'm taking a load of my workmates up (20 of 'em) for a team building day in September and would love to ensure they get a ripsaw ride to remember.

Would the ride op mind me asking him for a more 'adventurous' cycle and what's the likelihood I'd get it? ;)

I'm atheist and actually hate the fact that a supposed intellegent human race still clings to such outdated beliefs and, even worse, kill & fight in the name of them. I do love Pastafarianism though - google it - it's an athiest group set up in resonse to American states trying to ban the teachi...

I think the idea is to build the tower and then use the revenue to restore the pier in front of it. I realise that but at the moment the full emphasis is on the 360. I do wonder what attraction that really holds - sure the London Eye is hugely successful but London has a lot to see - history and si...

The two fires have been a huge blow to the recreation of this once proud structure. Further highlighted by Weston Super Mare's recent loss. Personally I'd prefer them to concentrate on restoring the pier - it was an amazing structure in it's day. The i360 is something that should be done as well as ...

The simple fact is the UK doesn't have the economy to support another major theme park - if it did American Adventure would still be going strong. The only way it would work would be if it was built as a fully developed park with a couple of mjor rides and a dozen or so flats and other support rides...
