I know this is drifting a bit from the topic but in response to: [quote 2012 will be the biggy - it'll be a focal year for Britian as a whole (Olympics etc) and I think if Alton are cooking anything up then that will be the year we see plans realised. Although i hope that Alton will get something b...

Whilst the attention to detail is amazing I can't help but feel it's an excercise that'd make my eyes bleed. I hate fussy menus and when I eat out I just want a simple menu that explains what's on offer in as fewer words as posible. That menu is extremely text heavy and ultimately I could see it ann...

I think given the current state of the economy we will not be seeing any 'heavy' investment into Alton Towers in the coming years. This weeks price rise is a sign that Alton are struggling to pay their costs as it is and I think we'll see a period of 'tightening up'. This doesn't mean there won't be...

I'm with bohoboy on this one. You all need to step back and consider Alton's POV on this one. I'm a manager in the leisure industry and I think I can speak for Alton when I say we hate putting up our prices. There will be customers that are strongly opposed to it, and it's a negative move. Putting u...

Obviously having problems with one Air shuttle yesterday then, our row was checked, re-checked then two of the seats checked again! Rita had to be re-checked both times I rode and Nemesis also underwent a recheck. And before anyone comments I've lost weight this year so my restraints were locking wi...

I get the feeling that it is a very deliberate waste of space. Alton have installed the lump there as a temporary attraction until something else comes along.

As others have said they only get so much budget and some things have to suffice for the time-being.

Ride Ops/Loading Procedures

Was on-park for the first time this year yesterday and noticed a very different vibe park wide. The Merlin buy-out seems to have had a very positive effect on the atmosphere. Anyway one thing I noticed was a change in 'attitude' to the ride ops and ride loaders. Everything was more frantic, there wa...

This is one of those threads that really annoys me. The same as the 'how long has Nemesis got' thread. I'd say the likes of Air, Rita & Spinball are disposable but Corky & Nemesis ARE Alton Towers. Corky difined the park for 14 years with Nemesis taking up the baton since 1994. It's now 2008...

Just a question about the BK contract; if BK have signed a contract for 5 years with Alton, but Alton want to kick them out at the end of this year, would that be possible? Would Alton be able to end the contract? Yes but they'd have to pay some sort of 'fine' for breaking contract early - if they ...

I've been thinking about this more. I don't get this myth of the composer restricting the use of music. As I see it Alton comissions the ride music in the first place, pays the composer the money for this comission and thus that music is then property of Alton Towers - end of. As a nicety Alton may ...

Most of the music that towers use is not owned by Alton Towers. Therefore getting together a group of people to allow Alton Towers to use it on a CD would be hard. Also themedmusic.com did make a CD but most of it was the stuff they did for the tussauds group and most of it was around the time air ...

Love it, love it, love it. I've been quite negative towards t'towers in the last 18months/2 years however I'm finally going to give in and say for the first time in ages I'm buzzed about the new season. I love all the promotional images & rebranding. I love the new feel to the park. I LOVE this ...

The Londoni works quite well as a name or perhaps subvert it to iLondon. O2 would suit but I feel that with the dome up the road it would be considered overkill. Interesting O2 did plan to build a hotel next to the dome in the shape of a '2' so on aerial shots and google earth etc it would look a bi...

I like the golden framing on all the new imagery. Perhaps the golden pipes are what pump the magic around the park... seems that after 5 or so years of neglect Merlin may have finally unblocked them!

Urban Exploring The Towers

Many of you may be familiar with a new trend called Urban Exploring. Basically people sneak into abandoned urban buildings to have a poke around whilst obeying some golden rules: Take nothing but photos (don't steal) Never damage the property - leave it as you found it. Never break and enter - only ...
