The shuttle could never actually stop on the drop chain as it is impossible to hold one there. If you notice it never actually comes to a stand still before dropping.

As (I think) Dave keeps saying, Oblvion never stops, it just goes very very slow. If you look carefully you can see it....

yup blivvy never stops on the reverse chain left i think as the train comes over the crest the motor goes into reverse working against the weight of the train so it never completely stops just goes exceptionally slow, then the clutch between the motor and the chain releases and the train drop under its own gravity

The question about if Oblivion could get stuck on the top of the drop was asked by someone on the BTS tour last year.

For the reason given above it is not possible they said.

I think things like that happen quite a lot, well Oblivion always stops at the top when I'm there. Once when I was queueing it broke down twice at the top and they had to send someone up, and then they tested it by sending empty shuttles around. The good thing was that as there were two break downs a lot of people left the queue so we ended up waiting for less time.

Yeah it's nothing out of the ordinary, it's likely someone was spied with a camera or something. Happens loads.

I think some people are getting confused as to where blivvy can stop, It can stop on the lift hill, it can stop on the turn around and the approach to the drop (there are block breaks and grip wheel up there. But it cannot stop on the Reverse Chain Lift (the holding point).

Even if the ride e-stops as the shuttle is on the reverse lift, the next block would already have been cleared (the break run) before it was allowed to proceed onto the holding point. Therefore even if the e-stop is enabled it is still safe for the train to drop and continue to the break run.

It probably stops at the top or somewhere on the lift hill at least once a day.
