What effect does wet weather have on rides if any? I know in the USA some coasters are shut when it rains heavily, but surely that can't happen at Alton what with the British weather?

You tend to find rides will remain open during rain. Spinball will have fewer people in a car to minimise the possibility of the cars overspeeding in the brake run though. There's be warnings played over the PA advising that rides may be uncomfortable but that's about it really. If there are thunderstorms in the area, then rides are likely to shut however. The big chunks of metal and electricity don't mix :D

Next time we go to the park, we're taking my 2 1/2 year old niece. We're hoping we'll be able to take her on some family rides rather then just the kiddie stuff. She's about 91 cm with her shoes off. Is there anything she'd be able to ride?

It's not a ride but don't miss Berry Bish Bash. I've only been in there once when I was at AT with friends and their kids. I enjoyed it as much as any big rides. So much fun for big kids, shame that I would need to drag a child round to be allowed in again.
My friends' girls (4 & 6) really enjoyed it too.

I'm thinking of heading down to AT during this years scarefest. I'm aware that AT will be very busy during this time but I was wondering if there is any particular time during scarefest that would be best in terms of que times? Or is the park always packed the whole way through scarefest?

I am also going to go down early next year for SW6. Is there a good time to go early in the year to avoid que's?

Thanks
Are you INTIMIDATED by the new 500ft tall launched Pinfari log flume with 3 side-by-side circular loops and splashdown on fire?

Hello, Scarefest is probably the busiest time of the year for Alton Towers. The Saturdays (17/24/31 Oct) will be the busiest days, followed by the Sundays and also the Half-Term holiday which is 26-30th October. If you can make it from Monday 19th - Friday 23rd Oct then that will be the quietest week, and most rides should be walk-on from about 3pm onwards.

However, during the busier periods, the park is open from 10am-9pm, so although the gate figure will be high it's spread out through the day (you very often see a lot of people arriving in the early hours of the afternoon). Even if you pick 24th/31st October, which I'm guessing will be the busiest days, you should be able to get on all the major rides and mazes, and may even manage repeat rides too, depending on how well you plan your day for e.g. not walking straight from Nemesis to Rita.

Well, sometimes opening weekend can be a bit hit and miss - it depends whether it opens in March or April really. I've known some opening days to be quietish (for a Saturday) (2004/2007/2008/2009), yet others to be pretty busy (2002/2003/2005/2006). As SW6 is a big ride, I'd expect it to be busy for each of the weekends at the beginning of the season, so I'd try and arrange to go on a weekday during term time where most rides will be walk-on. :)

Will scarefest on Fiday 30th October be as busy at weekend of the christian event back in May?

We are at the park in the day and staying in the night after being in the park, when we arrive do we use the hotel entrance and do we use the hotel parking?

I very much doubt it'll be quite as packed as for the Christian event, but it will be busy at the end of October.

Yes the passes are prone to not working due to the way they are printed. Its nothing new and nine times out of ten I just hand my card over without even trying to put it through the turnstile.

Hello to all,

I have the 'Over 50%' off vouchers with a Sharkbait Reef advertisement on, which offer up to 2 Adults admittance for £17 each, and 2 Children for £12 each. My question is...are these still accepted and usable since the price increase to £37?

Thanks, Ollie.

Ok thanks, the expiry date isn't till 16/10/09, so that means they should be fine.

Has anyone used a previous entrance ticket to get £5 off the next visit? And does this have to be used for 2 people, or could I use it for 1 ticket?

Thanks, Ollie.

Surely you're best off forgetting that and going to the supermarket and seeing if the Fanta Half Price deal is still on?

If not, I am sure they would allow two of you as it's such a minimal offer.

Im off to Alton at the end of the month and want to go for a third day on a two day ticket. When you get a next day ticket on park, does it include ERT? as our 2 day ticket does as we booked them on line

Making our first Scarefest visit this year, 4 of us. We are looking at doing the field of 1000 screams, just wondering whether the cornfield gets muddy?

pretty silly question but just wondering #-o

No, they will try there upmost to keep the cornfield free of mud, by having a layer of hay along the maze route.

But I wouldn't recomend your best trainners to enter the field in... :P
