What reason would you have to go close to the construction site during winter? Is it open to hotel guests?

If there's a way I can be there I will. May have to resort to camo paints and deer antlers... 8-[

Very unlikely, they'll be doing it this year if they want to keep it secret...

If you really would want a sneak peak of what was happening, the best shot you have is Feb half term when Hex & the rest of CCL is open. Hopefully by then if a Rita re-them is happening then that's where you'll see it.

Count me in, I will bring a thermos flask and cup a soup.

Closed season espionage my speciality.

Had a better look of the site from rita.looks like there's still a lot of concrete to be poured.

Just back from the Towers.Apparently when completed this will be the longest coaster in the UK. As the above post said hell of a lot of concrete has bee poured today. Also steel re bar sections being brought on to site and being used to create a rectangular wall. Went for a quick look at closing time over fence rails of the burnt out station looked as close as we dared to see footer upon footer most using them concrete rings.I'll post the pics i took later.

Right from the plans we already know it isnt going to be the longest coaster in terms of track length... so I'm guessing if this is true where ever you have heard it from it means time wise. As in it will have the longest ride time mostlikely due to the show/dark section taking a while?

The longest coaster in the UK? I really doubt it tbh, with The Ultimate at lightwater valley being 7442 ft long!
Good too hear that there sounds like there's a lot of workers on site.

Longest coaster in terms of time is:
Euro-Mir in Europa Park, Germany - 273 secs (4:33) *snore*
Seriously, if this coaster is longer than that the put through will be appalling.

Euro Mir has a throughput of over 1,800 people per hour.

Actually that's not true, as The Ultimate lasts just under 7 minutes, station to station. There might be a longer one in the world somewhere (though the only operating coaster longer than The Ultimate only has one lifthill that presumably isn't paunfully slow).

30 workmen on site is massive amount compared to what we've seen before. I think construction will get faster at an exponential rate from now on.

definitely looks like it is going to be a tunnel as its far to deep just to be a trench and some of the pics that lotte gave made it sure for me that it will be a tunnel.

WOW, construction seems to be moving well quick in the last few days. Also as someone said that the footers have no bolt connectors on, I may be mistaken but there are some on some supports.

Woop won't be long til vertical construction starts I don't think.

If you look at this pic,,,http://www.imagebam.com/image/8d97c349085981
You can see that the trench is very deep due to the side walls being supported.
As it goes around the trees the trench gets shallower.
