Why dont you just wait until the manufacturer is revealed instead of disagreeing and arguing.

Because this is a discussion forum, and as much as the discussion may not be based on fact as such - people can debate as they please.

Didn't B&M start out working for intamin tho

But that was when they were one company. Now they are two rival companies.

this can get confusing

B&M (the people not the company) worked for giovanola which in turn built rides for Intamin (in the old days many companies would create the design and then contract out the construction)

B&M then went on their own and created the company we see today. As far as i'm aware the only time they have worked with another company on a ride (with the exception of the electrics and PLC's which are contracted to Consign) is Hulk when someone else constructed the launch mechanism.

Guys - can I remind you that the SW6 sub forums are heavily moderated. I have deleted several posts this evening which have been off topic or not contributing to discussion.

Please keep this in mind when using our SW6 discussion areas.

Thanks :)

So most of the evidence points towards B&M, which I think is great. So what do we think the ride experience is going to incorporate. Could this be the B&M 4D we have all been waiting for?

With regards the budget, do we have any hard evidence we know what AT are spending on this ride? Or is it a bit of rumour and chinese wispers.

AT know this ride needs to be its next signature ride in a way, as the whole country already knows that corky has gone and something amazing is being installed to replace it. I think these plans are hidding the bigger picture here and finding out that it is probably going to be a B&M is starting to fill the gaps of this large puzzle.

I would love to see a B&M built, but as said before the budget doesn't seem realistic for reasons said before.

I can imagine we would start seeing track in storage at the swizterland manufacturing plant. It doesn't match up with the plans shown, they would have shown B&M track on the plans if it was going to be them. As Furie stated, they are turning away work due to there product is so popular, why change it!

Whatever manufacturer of the ride am sure it will be a good ride cz alton towers have not let us down in the past and possibly merlin might be trying to prove something

To be honest I wouldn't at all be suprised if B&M trackwork is itself sub-contracted to a steel company rather than it be in-house. Same goes for electronics... I mean after all design is.

I love all these comparisons to such things as car manufacturers, gordon ramsey etc.... It doesn't really help to be honest.
I could make a comparison in that its like the Undertaker, they keep letting him win his matches at Wrestlemania because the fans love it!
Just like Alton are going to keep using B&M for all their Secret Weapons because its a winning formula! Lol
Kaz your spot on with what you say, all the council are concerned about is which way the track goes. Doesn't matter who makes it as long as it goes that way. If the council needed lots of info then there would be a carriage on the track to demonstrate the width and style of the carriage.
Don't forget folks, Alton used B&M for their SW's because of how quiet they are, albeit Nemesis with its loud wheels :p
The people of Alton would want the least noise as possible, the comparison to X-No Way out is simply to convey the noise levels within the building. There will inevitably be noise of the ride on the track in the woods but B&M will make it as quiet as possible.

Any coaster company can reduce track noise I can imagine. Its only the sand within the track that makes it quiet. If you listern to Dragon Khann, Kumba and even Montu, they are quite loud. Kumba is an African word for roar.
Its only the later rides filled with sand that are quieter.

All well and good but B&Ms are partly distinctive for their roar. The only reason why the rides at Alton are semi quiet is due to them being stuffed full of sand.

Personally I'd say Rita is quieter than say Nemesis or Air...

I believe the B&M roar is due to the box section track being able to resonate more as a train passes over it, than say a tubular design.

If two rides were built, identical to each other, one by Vekoma, the other by B&M, offering identical ride in terms of speed, G force and experience. Could the extra cost be justified to just have the roar and slight extra smoothness of a B&M when the Vekoma model does everything you want for a fraction of the cost...

Plus the type of wheel they use eg nemesis had the wrong wheels put on most of the noise on SW6 will be contained in the building

Everyone here seems to be living in a happy happy world, where no business ever tries to go beyond what it's good at in order to make greater products.

B&M won't want to be turning ANYBODY away at this present time, we're on the verge of the biggest recession in history. If they haven't got the capacity to produce what they need to for customer demand, then they will be attempting to increase this capacity.

They will also want to look at being able to product smaller coasters, or ones that could be smaller; in order to diversify and look for profits from other markets.

I can imagine the noise isue will be down to the effects used within the building. Even tho the track will make a certain amount of noise.

Going back to the B&M roar, Nemesis is far louder than Air, due to as far as I know Nemesis is not filled with sand.

Where have we got the budget information from? I seem to have missed it. Have Alton Towers announced their budget for this project already?

Couldnt agree more. Roll on when delivery on site starts. I think we will start to be able to tell when the footings are being laid. This wil determin the support size. B&M generally use large supports where as Premire etc us much slimmer supports.

Im still not convinced its B&M, I will eat my hat if it turns out to be one. I will be happy eating my hat if it is B&M

If I remember rightly its similar to Saw, around the £12 million mark.

I don't see why the majority of people on here are adamant that BaM will never change, well for one BaM will quite likely be looking at developing a smaller scale more affordable design because we are in a recession and not every park can afford to throw 20 30 mill around and BaM will have realised that so a new more feasible design is in my opinion a very sensible thing to do. Also a he'll lot of parks have BaMs and because they are so popular I don't think it's wrong to suggest that BaM may want to widen their product prospectus and throw something totally new out into the market. Oh and it was mentioned in a previous post that that if SW6 is to be a BaM then after the theming and the station their is not going to be much left out of the budget for the actual ride, well there's not much of a ride their really I mean it's short and the coaster itself dosent look too special and I doubt the worlds first element is going to cost mega bucks
WE ARE ALL WITNESSESS

Nemesis Cost: £10million
Oblivion Cost: £12million
Air Cost: £12million

SW6 £12million?

It will have to cost alot more theaming alone will cost this is a rough est £5-£6million
