Yeah, I reckon we will start to see TV adverts popping up around early March. I wouldn't expect anything any sooner.

I've noticed that the updated Alton website has changed the wording of the small print regarding the Thirteen preview weekend. It now says that the weekend definitely doesn't include a ride on Thirteen whereas before it said that a ride wasn't guaranteed.

I reckon quite a few people with tickets will be annoyed.

Hynotherapy anyone? LOL. Cracking marketing ploy, shame its not been widely publicised.

I expect TV marketing to begin after half term.. We wouldn't want Sonic Spinball to lose its sparkle now, would we ;).

Here's another bit of hype, The Sun claims that Thirteen's TV ad is too scary to be shown before watershed (second article from link).

"Spooky Hooded figures"! Why would anyone ban that?

This sounds like more PR and unless this ride really does blow are minds I can see a lot of disappointed general public on their first ride.

At least we know a TV advert isn't too far away.

They really are unlucky when it comes to digging in Alton Towers. I mean theres the historical mound in coaster corner, the unleashed alien in forbidden valley and now a burial ground in Ug land!

I've heard Henry Hound is also buried somewhere.

I agree though. PR machine in full swing, I bet they never even made an advert in the firstplace, probably just submitted a 30 second clip from the Blair Witch Project. :P

It would be interesting if this was true. It is more plausible than other PR scams. If it is true then...crap actually, producing adverts are expensive and they may end up having spent more money to create a second-best advert.

Alternatively, they may have planned to create two versions of the advert, one for before and after watershed, and this is a way of twisting it to make them sound more impressive, ah lah p.r.

Alternatively, it's all usual rubbish.

Either way, Im excited.

Definatley agree with this, and the prospect of two adverts of different ratings seems a great idea. After all they've hyped the ride up so much they've got to start living up to it, so an eerie advert would work really well coupled with a more timid one.

Having said all that, i take anything written in that particular paper with a pinch of salt, after some of the shocking things they've published in the past...

You can't forget the big, black, scary hole to OBLIVION and the BS that spews out of my dark, dorment, crack-in-the-ground :D that has some prehistoric animal.

Next, they will say that someone was kidnapped and dragged back to the crypt, and there will be a video that emerges showing the kidnapped person and then the person will be killed or something tragic, terrifying and slightly tear-inducing that makes us what to know more...

Oh wait...the ride's been closed down because it's way toooooo dangerous. What with the hoodie-wearing yobs that kidnap guests.

What more could we possibly want to know?

Those wallpapers are awesome. All that I can say about the TV ad being cancelled is fail :D . Anyway I think it's just another publicity stunt really.

Incidentally, I did hear a few days back that there are two adverts. Could be garbage, like - but I am not ruling out this story.

I think 2 adverts could work well.

Advert One would be more family friendly, spends time advertising Thirteen, Sonic and the 30th.
After 9 another advert could concentrate of Thirteen, highlighting how scary the ride is etc.
(The more "adult" advert would work well during programs such as Skins and Shameless etc)

Marketing for Thirteen so far has impressed me. Thumbs up for Morwenna, her team and Frank PR.

Hah! Another publicity stunt fail. Ah well as mentioned above at least it has hit the media, more guests probably? They have gone way over the top to try and make this scary when it probably will not be that scary. Cuppa anyone?
