All i did was take a close up of the display board... and then the next photo is an even better close up... 8-[

Personally, I'm looking forward to it- a coaster with a story works well and dark rides are always good for atmosphere and fun- hence a combination of the two should work well.
An advanced version of Disneyland Paris' big thunder mountain with a scary theme would be a good ride in my view. However, whoever mentioned Hex being a good ride- truly awful and worst ride i went on when i went to alton towers...
avoided big coasters till i hit 16, ive never looked back! Aim: to become a rollercoaster enthusiast. next target theme park: Europa Park, Germany

(Sorry about the long topic earlier, got carried away in the disscusion).

In the latest pictures i notice they have put scaffolding up but I wasn't sure if a little bit of the plywood has been taken down. Is it just the camera angle or have they removed a layer?

Get out :P

Secret Weapon 6 looks like it's going to be good in the same way Hex is. Relatively basic and standard (bar the world's first) ride mechanism but wrapped up in that irresistable Towers theming, plot and atmosphere.

When it's all working hunky dory, Hex transcends being a mere ride. It's theatre! It's, dare I say it, art!
For some things there is no rational explanation. There is no way out. There is no happy ending to this story. Welcome to the unknown. Welcome to eternal darkness.

Welcome to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - The Ride

People are saying it's going to be like the RMT. Just looking at it, the current state shows us its way not. The drop for a starters...

Also RMT cost £3m and SW6 is costing £12m. Same price structure as oblivion. So i think this is going to bigger than it appears to be...

I may even go as far as to say that I prefer the theming, story and music of Hex more than the ride itself.

If SW6 gets a great soundtrack like Hex in the roumred visual effects area then it will be an automatic winner in my book. Hex is awsome Alton have just let it slip a bit. Nothing a quick touchup couldn't fix.

Personally for me no amount of amazing theming can put a ride with a poor or average layout into Secret weapon quality because the backbone of any rollercoaster is the layout and if a certain standard is not met then for me its not going to be Sw6 quality never mind world class and i think SW6 is relying heavily on theming which i find a tad annoying.

Well Oblivion has possibly the dullest layout of any SW in the park. It is not neccessarily the layout but the elements involved. Yes SW6's track does not look very substantial, but some of the elements that are present, including whatever happens in the building will all add up. There is so much more potential than simply how the track looks. Think outside the box!
We were thinking outside the box, we mearly made a point about how people keep saying how amazing the track looks, how good the first drop looks, and how the hills are gunna give good airrtime, when clearley its a bad track layout. if you read Javs you will see that we go on to say how the Themeing, trains, and the world first element are going to make it a great ride.

Perhaps not for the ride but for the whole area. I think it would make the place so scary, especially in the Scarefest xD

If we are discussing what music the ride should have then I would love it if they got the composer "Murray Gold" to write it.

He is the man who has been writing the music for the new series of Doctor Who and could probably compose just about any style of music they wanted. I would post an example of his music but I would probably end up breaking some copyright law. [-X
One day I’m going to hide my ear phones and try playing one of his tunes on Air. I used an on-ride video once while playing a track of his and they blended perfectly.

Thinking about it, if the who of Ugland and Rita is rethemed well I dont think SW6 will need any music.

If the area music was like what I suggested earlier

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAP26hS82BU

then it would add to the creepyness of the area. It would make SW6 sit there as if its almost ready to pounce rather than attraction attention to itself which it wouldn't need since its gone from corky, to nothing, to a rather large castle type building that will be the main focus of the area.

Pump some fog/mist around the trees near the queue lines and the track in the ditch as it enters the lifthill and voila

I think I should compose the music :P Seriously, I'd do it for free and I think I could do a good job. I'm studying creative music technology at university and have recently done a lot of music for picture work, as well as more experimental ambient stuff.
It's always been a dream of mine to write music for a ride, because unlike for film, there is more freedom in the music I'd write.

For SW6 I think I'd go for a combination of big orchestral sounds, similar to the Hex score, but also some more contemporary ambient sections during the queue etc.
It would also be interesting to write music for the worlds first section, an opportunity to write some really great suspense, build up music.

I would send a link to some of my music, but I haven't uploaded anything which would be similar to the sort of thing needed for SW6.

But you can check out some of my music at http://www.youtube.com/user/nickmaymusic

Having a fan composed music along with a normal one isn't a bad idea. Maybe you should give it a try "nickmaymusic", might give a bit more passion into it. Any idea who is composing the music if they have already been chosen?
