Yeah, who would have guessed that it would be Alton Towers themselves who spammed TTF the most? :P

I should not have bothered opening this topic, these stunts have no effect at all on me now. If they are meant to be funny, they aren't funny. If they are meant to be shocking, they aren't shocking. As long as they get people talking...

Why can't they ban more stressful things? "Alton Towers bans chavs" "Alton Towers bans the Ropers" "Alton Towers bans Submission"

How funny would it be if the complaint they had was found out to be involving Morwenna and oldgitBen :D one of the funniest most pun wanting PR stunts ever.

I think when it comes to marketing, Alton Towers seem to be going for the quantity over quality recently. This is just sad.

And I don't buy into the standard TTF line of "well, if it gets them in the papers..."

Yes, this does get them in the papers, but NOBODY is going to book a stay at the hotels on the basis of "Oh look love! They've banned shagging at Alton Towers. Aren't they a modern bastion of dying family values and common morality?" Many of the stunts from the last few years have done nothing but portray Alton Towers as stuffy, uptight, conservative killjoys. I now have images of matronly busybodies patrolling the hotels making sure no 'hanky panky' goes on under their watch.

What next? No unmarried or gay couples allowed to share rooms? No gentleman callers after 10pm? Publicity stunts should be inclusive and make people feel like they will be valued guests. Not inconvenient, idiotic, animalistic fornicators (or fat, worthless blobs if we go back to the infamous Speedo ban).

I'm sure I shall be accused of lacking a sense of humour and 'not getting it', but I get it just fine. I know they don't mean it and it's just there to get them some dirty, hollow column inches. It's just totally idiotic. Not all publicity is good publicity for a household name such as Alton Towers.

Rant over.

Methinks somebody is maybe just going through a little *ahem* dry spell with Mr Angove :P

Cant decide on this one to be honest, i dont like any of them very much but there have been worse, after all they havn't said they are banning sexy good times in the hotels its just that they are having "family areas" without the good old groaning associated with sex.

I think its cheep and beneath what the towers should be aiming at but its better than the bloody speedo ban

well, they aren't actually banning it completely, I guess they will put all the couples in one part of the hotel and all the families in another

I think you'll find they won't do anything whatsoever.

Exactly. It's just a cheap line to stay in The S*n. This should really be below Alton. Hell, even Blackpool would be above this...

Without the hotels the gardens will be full! Where will I explore now without uncovering the 4th pair of hotel guests keeping it family friendly?

They must have been having great sex then!? :P

It's got to the point now where I just laugh at these stunts and carry on with my life, I just don't care about them any more. I'm surprised they haven't done a gay ban yet, or a screaming on rides ban, only a matter of time I suppose.

I find this latest stunt to be the most untasteful yet! Has their room occupancy really got so bad that they've had to result to this nonsense? Even more bizarre, I don't understand the placement of the article. Yes, typically Sun readers are quite gullible (sorry, but they are), but they are also sex obsessed! So why place an article about 'banning' sex in a publication read by people who love sex, therefore alienating your audience?

I think the comments sum under the article sum this one up, and were, in my opinion, the best bit about the whole article.

Yup, I believe thats how it works. :|

"The Sun Comments" wrote:
Totally agree emac. Alton Towers wouldn't even have had to bother dividing up the hotel into so-called "sex friendly areas" if they'd bothered to build the hotel properly in the first place. Get rid of the cardboard walls and this wouldn't have ever been a problem!

Now theres a good point!
