Yet again, towers over hype and market something and it turns out to be a complete let down.
The only reason it is a let down is because it doesn't fit in with what you were expecting.
On the whole, the deal isn't that bad, at around £35 per person based on 2 sharing, you do get quite a bit. It isn't everyones cup of tea, and not something I am interested in personally, so whilst I am dissapointed that it isn't something that appeals to me, it will appeal to others. Also, the first 20 bookings also get free tickets for the Theme Park in 1/2 term.
The only reason £10 rooms were mentioned is because it has been done before, in December 2006. It has never been repeated, and I would imagine there was good reason for that. Also, £10 rooms were room only, no Breakfast, which was charged at full rate if you wanted to add it on. If you were to add the package being offered on to the £10 rooms being offered back on '06 it would work out more than the current deal.
Remember, the hint was a fantastical Hotel deal. If peoples imaginations ran away with them based on that hint, imagining park openings, amongst other things, then why is that the fault of Alton Towers? They may of suggested people cancel all plans for next weekend etc, but at the end of the day they simply announced that there were would be a hotel deal on offer, which there was.
