Upload the image onto a image hosting site (photo bucket) and then right click and copy image URL. On the forum when creating a post, click the image button and should appear. Paste the image URL between the middle '][' and the image should upload :)

Hi, i have found a really interesting picture from this year on Towers Nerd Live. (the picture may hint something towards SW8) And i am not sure what it is,  GHOST???

The picture was taken near duel on the path from katanga canyon to the gloomy woods

It could be a sign of SW8, the ghost is quite perculiar but personally, i don'th think it is SW8. Usually when surveying the land for a new coaster, they spray dots on the ground to map it out and so, with the dots being on trees I think this just could be a big tree felling operation on park. As a lot of us may know an outbreak of a fungi which is poisonous to trees has been spreading across the UK so i think these trees have either got that fungi or are marked because they need to be felled for some other reason. As dor the ghost, I really don't know! Is it a piece of themeing left over from scarefest?

They could just be areas of trees that are to be cut down as they have been doing that on the way to Duel.

I cannot deny this is exciting.

Although I have to agree with cookie monster, I don't think they'll be cutting them yet if it was for SW8, although if it is, it will stop the debate of 2016/2017

If they do put a coaster by Duel, won't it just ruin Duel as you would be able to see the Warehouse?

I wouldn't say knocked down. Maybe refurbished into a show ride again.

If they were building SW8 there they would have had to submit an application to knock the trees down I think...

They don't have to submit planning for marking which trees they want taken down though ;)

They do if they're in a conservation area...

Edit

Thats if its in large quantities... Since it surrounds a grade 1 listed garden

That's interesting ...

But then what are they marking them for if they haven't got permission to knock them down? It just seems very suspicious.

I think the eventual plan is to free the space for something. Whether they have permission to do this is yet to be seen, but they are definitely planning something.

Or if the trees are infected with fungi then they would have to be chopped down

I know I've mentioned this before but its worth saying again, when I was at the park in 2012, May I think, there was a chap surveying (with an auto level) the area around the rapids.  The chap was on the road next to the rapids queue line, parallel with the queue line just before the poncho vending machines, he was aiming his level at the wooded area there.

It could have been for anything, maybe even just for checking the flume is still where it's meant to be...but the flume is at its best before end date and needs replacing and realistically only with another flume - it's quite popular and is very family friendly. There's also a fair bit of empty land in that area if you consider the grass area next to the rapids station and the road running through.

There are some metal arches along the gloomy wood walk/cut through - does anyone know when they were erected? Could be to hide overhead track?  They'll have known the Flume was coming to the end of its life and would have planned its replacement years ago in my opinion...

I could see a ground hugging multi launch Mack Mega coaster (like Project Helix) flying through the gloomy wood.

It wouldn't be the first time Alton Towers have considered this area for a coaster. Around 10 years ago, plans for a launched coaster in Gloomy Wood were allegedly drawn up, can't remember if they were ever confirmed official or fake though…
