To be fair to them, they hadn't even filed for planning permission yet at this point in The Smiler's construction cycle. (As far as I can recall)
1. Helix | 2. Taron | 3. Nemesis | 4. Expedition GeForce | 5. Wodan

I really hope we don't see the flume site as we saw it last season by 2017 opening day. Lets hope they haven't just set up camp and I at least hope to see the flume gone!

As reported on TowersTimes News earlier this evening, documents just submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council have confirmed GCI as the manufacturer of SW8. Also detailed is a 58 week construction period followed by 11 weeks of testing which if construction commenced this week would give us a potential opening of any date from 31st March 2018.

Also confirmed is a construction cost of £15 million. However this is purely for the construction of the ride and this figure will not include marketing and other costs so the total investment figure will be higher.

Some interesting details to think over :)

Small building under the lift hill + a £15 million budget

I smell a launch :)

Based on the fact it uses a magnetic system we could classify that as a launch from early plans :)

True :P although if it was at normal lift speed I'm not sure I would count it as a launch even if technically it was :) The building suggests something more powerful to me but I'm no expert!

One can still hope though ;)

Also The Flume has been well and truly smashed:

Sorry for multiple posts in quick succession, but it's just dawned on me how sad that image is. Seeing that just reminded me how many memories I had on the flume and how much I'll miss it :(

It does look as if the entire station building has been demolished, if I'm not mistaken wasn't at least some of it supposed to be kept?

It's exciting to see things finally get properly underway on site!

Looking at the photo of the site plan that the person involved in The Flume's demolition posted, there seems to be a plaza area in the middle of the ride which I don't think has been noticed before. It can also be seen in the drainage plan which emerged today.

Also, could the theming feature that appears to stand above three sections of the track be a large Wicker Man statue?

Also, if anyone would like to view the documents the new discharge of conditions application can be found here.

Yeah, I was asleep when the post was up, don't suppose anyone managed to screenshot the pic?

Like the others said, Its sad to know that The Flume has been demolished, it was a childhood ride for me and knowing its gone is sad. At least its for the greater good though!

Also side note, Wicker man?

Honestly, I have to admit I have doubts...

Of course we can't truely know if this is a good investment before March/May 2018 :P

1. I still think the whole layout looks pretty dull and far too short
2. As some may have noticed from my previous posts, I hate IPs

I can't say I'm particularly pleased about all this, especially as it will be five years we've had to wait since the last SW :-(
