New Chicken outlet

Talk about this new food area here replacing the KFC............

I think its a bad move by the park as KFC is a major brand and is pretty consistent no matter where in the world you have one. This tends to have the cheap takeaway rip off quality to come to it and with it being run in house as far as quality etc is concerned it could go downhill.

New Chicken outlet

*points to woodcutters bar and grill and explorers pizza and pasta*

These outlets are good value and good quality. Explorers replaced Pizza Hut and nobody complained, and it's always very busy!

It's great to NOT have high street brands on park - whilst people associate with brands, theme parks are meant to be a getaway from normal life, seeing a KFC detracts from this.

Ive heard good reviews for Merlins Fried Chicken Co anyway!

Surely, if anything, with it being in-house they'll have more control over quality rather than it being in the hands of a third party.

Not eaten in the equally in-house Katanga Canyon restaurant but I thought that the general consensus was that it was a decent addition?

This is already being discussed in the Closed Season topic.
KFC staff was shocking, and the service at Fireworks was shockingly bad.

This is a welcome move by me, but I HOPE that the menu from Chessington aint the same at Towers. The price is steep and the portions aint exactly amazing.

Have a look in that other topic for a link to the menu.

I think that more of the general public would be drawn to a branded restruant than an in-house one. Although any all-you-can eat place will be popular.

I would agree but it's let down by IP's and ride sponsors elsewhere, etc...

I'm glad Merlin are adding more of their food outlets to the park, the quality is better than the generic outlets.

The food at Alton Towers in the last few years is so much better than how it used to be. (And the range of options is better than pretty much every theme park I've been to)

Burger King to go next, please :)

I can see a Burger house fitting well in Mutiny's burger king, but I want a original CCL diner! And Forbidden Valley serve spicy food, like Eastern Express.

Also, the half-term opening seems satisfying to me. But surely not many people would want to go to X-Sector anyway with only one attraction, and more "alive" places to eat.

Glad KFC is going, their food is expensive rubbish.  Their outlets are dirty and the staff miserable.  I havent eaten in BK either since they got rid of McDonalds, they are even more expensive and even more rubbish!

The only fast food outlet I do miss is McD's.

While Explorers Pizza and Pasta and the Ribs place by Rita are very nice, if Merlin replace all the food outlets with their own, we know what will happen.........  prices go waaaaaaaay up!  So while one the one hand I welcome some of their moves, I am cautious with the other...

Looks pretty good to me. Certainly an improvement on what used to be there! *shudders*

I really am liking the little touches that they've added to the outlet. It looks like the theme is partially related to Oblivion, as the restraint is a nice addition.

I just hope that the quality of the food is as good as the restaurant looks! They've done more with it than KFC could have ever done to the place, so I'll look forward to eating there this Half-Term.

I have eaten at Explorers Pizza & Pasta Buffet, Woodcutter's Bar & Grill and Courtyard Tavern BBQ and I have to say they are all great quality and value for money - I much prefer these to KFC and Burger King! So I have no doubt this will be the same.  :D

Some nice theming in there btw!

At £6.50 for two pieces of chicken, the quality had better be good.

Where did you get the prices from? Is this the actual rice or just an assumption?

But if that is the actual cost, then wow. That's pretty expensive.

^ The prices are from a Chessington chicken outlet. No doubt the AT prices will be the same, although I should imagine that passholders will be entitled to a discount.

I don't think it's all that more expensive than KFC was.

Well I'd at least like to have a reason to go in there, rather than walk in and stand looking around like a gaumless fool before leaving again! :P

I did that once...:P

I'd never been in there before this season, so I went in, had a quick scan and walked straight back out. It was a themeless dump.

Which was sad because i'd seen old pics of it looking really cool and high tech.
