sorry i'm little confused about these shipping containers , how many have they added?
If you take a look at the pictures that have been posted, the added container is the one at the front of the image. That is all that has been added but it will create a totally dark and enclosed ending to the ride.

I was on park today and around 4:30 they started running previews for opening for today, however I didn't manage to get on due to the bus but there sounded to be a lot of air cannons in the new container... Did anyone manage to get on it today?

Quite the contrary, apparently its made the ride now - people are coming out actually petrified. Far, far different to before.

I would like to point out that we should give Alton Towers a good few weeks to tamper with the improved Sub-Terra. Much like the original version and any other dark rides upon opening there will always be things that need tweaking or adjusting until the experience is 'spot on'.

Alton Towers will have no idea of how the product will work with the public so it does take a while to make little adjustments until you end up with a spot on dark ride. Hex being a prime example.

Just saying that before we get the herd of 'omg Sub-Terra is crap' posts surging in. These things take time people.

:)

You can't spoiler tag any more.

So just tell us! ;)

This is only what Iv'e heard, but it's just a black room, with a few actors and some strobe lights. But that could be wrong so don't hold me to it.

If that's the case, so be it. That's all we said it needed anyway.

What are these actors doing then? It doesent make sense so there in there to scare you how?
are they ment to be engulfed by the Nemesis monster?

From people who have been on it today, they are in boiler suits and have gas masks, therefore I presume they are trying to contain the monster, but I haven't got a clue tbh.

I think the general consensus before this closed week started was "decontamination area"

Would fit in with the theme, i just hope to god something has been done to the main ride.

I haven't heard from anyone today but I was told the actors are meant to be in a decontamination unit

I suppose that would also link in with the actors they had there during Scarefest in the boilersuits, which never really linked into the ride.

All this proves to me is that Merlin Studios have a worrying lack of originality.

If all they can come up with for their coasters is post-apocalyptic/run down themes and scare-mazes/monsters themes for their rides, then I seriously think the Studios needs a good shake up.

For the ride's sake, I hope something drastic has changed in the main chamber to at least make that more exciting. Nevertheless, I shall experience it for myself sometime in June, so shall reserve full judgement until then.

As always i advocate waiting to ride something before reviewing its qualities.. good or bad!

However, with this ride we already had

+ Decent story
+ Good internal theming
+ Some decent effects (egg and sensory effects)
+ Decent level of pre-ride tension

So all they really need to do is to provide the advertised scares, this must link with the story and be effective. A decontamination "Scare Room" may just do that, if coupled with some more work inside the ride then we could have a decent ride..

... that said it could also be a hash job with no merit what-so-ever, the point being we will have to wait and see.

Sounds like Experiment 10 at Thorpe last year, they had boiler suits/masks on etc

Experiment Ten is the only experience yet to have me absolutely petrified. I know reviews have differed between individuals, but Rob and I were given the most harrowing run through it!

Roll on Sunday :)!

And me and a certain AstroDan were clinging to eachother for dear life screaming for the entire thing, so anything anywhere near the quality of that would be amazing!

I expect they'll reuse the Biohazard suits that ents worse last year for promotion :)
