Re: Does anybody know what this is? Forbidden Valley prop?

:P No I don't. It's generally considered to be some sort of drill head, possibly used in the excavation of Nemesis. It's generally just referred to as the Nemesis Junk.
The only thing I really know about it, is it's a  :censored: to model :P

I always thought it was a gun of some kind and refer to it as the Nemesis gun :)

The gun used to try and tame Nemesis, before it was engulfed by the beast of course.
THC selectively targets and destroys tumor cells while leaving healthy cells unscathed. Conventional chemotherapy drugs, by contrast, are highly toxic; they indiscriminately damage the brain and body.

Toke up...

I'm pretty sure that i've seen smoke/mist coming from it too at some point or other. I always thought it was a part of the craft which the alien was in when it crashed. Seeing as it's not in direct proximity to nemmy. Think I was always told this as a kid too, but who knows!

I always believed it was a weapon to battle nemesis but was taken over by it instead.

Apparently nemesis comes alive at night and the gun is used to keep him in his crater....the steam is it recharging.

Gonna Change this topic to "What do you think this Nemesis themeing element is".
I think it would be great to get everyone's ideas, as clearly there are quite a lot of interpretations.

The fog machine in there I think is on a lot, but it probably runs out of fluid every so often. One time I went up to it and breathed it in.

The device like some have said, is either a gun to be used against Nemesis which became engulfed by its sub terranian tentacles OR
Its a device Nemesis uses herself - a kind of biomechanical mini/turret gun that comes alive when people go near the dig site.

Been lurking a bit but felt I should sign up and reply as I think I know the answer...

I'm pretty sure it's an old coal mine roadheader like this http://resource.sanygroup.com/images/1274691870916.jpg.

It looks right to me, and that's what my dad (from a coal mining family) said when I asked about it many years ago.  I imagine they were pretty easy to come by around the time Nemesis was being built.

Could be wrong though!

Think your bang on there! Like you said most mines were closing in the mid 90's when nemesis was born. So i should assume that getting one of these would be easy (apart from transport issues) I really want a clear answer on this. It's a real mystery!

I think its one of the weirdest things I've seen!

Glad it's not just me, I've always wondered what it was supposed to be

From the POV of what it ACTUALLY is, I seem to remember John Wardley saying this was done by a guy (was it from Ireland?) who mades sculptures from scrap metal parts. He takes different parts from scrapped machines and makes fictional machines. Theres actually quite a few people who do this now so was unable to source a name.

Interesting - looks like I could be wrong then, I always thought it was simply an old roadheader.  I'm sure it must use parts from one/be inspired by one in any case.

It comes across as an alien weapon to me.

I still remember the first time I saw it in the mid 90s. It's aged now, but it's still awesome.

When I was 12 my friend told me it was a model of Nemesis.
When I saw it I really couldn't believe that.
It looked like a laser weapon of sorts to me.

I guess it is a roadheader. Though people can free to imagine what they like. I always preferred the idea that it is a futuristic/supernatural weapon to use against Nemesis. I always imagined the Forbidden Valley to be a post-apocalyptic world set in the aftermath of a great war.

I always thought it was actually used in the construction of Nemmy, like they do when they build tunnels they usually discard the machines in the tunnel, at Alton they decided to showcase it.
