Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

As much as I am gutted that I missed out riding this by a few days, I have to say that I'm glad I'm not going until a month tomorrow since the queue times for the smiler is already 3 hours haha! Should be brilliant when I go since everyone will be at school :) I wonder how many inversions I will go through that day! Aiming for over 100 :)

The queue times are really interesting looking at them. The Smiler is really soaking up everything which then spins out into Rita/Oblivion but yet people still aren't leaving and causing a surge in Forbidden Valley. Will be interesting to see how it develops later on.

I am now corrected  :D

Queue took me 2.30hours, it's basically the same starting place as when I joined and it stopped twice while queuing.

So your looking 2.15-2.30hrs.... Which isn't bad IMO. It's a pretty interesting queue!

Just thought I'd post these as they are screens in the shop where they place something on your head! :)

Me as a smiler teddy :)

Thought this was really clever and a nice, suitable touch. Overall a brilliant experience from the moment you join the queue!

Anyone care to hazard a guess as to what the queues will be like on Thursday? I thought it was still half term, but it turns out that it's just my sisters school that has a funny way of doing things!

If it wasn't for the fact it's set date tickets I'd be there on Monday.. I'm not sure I can hold out til Thursday!
I even dreamt I was riding the smiler last night!

Good to see RCDB has updated their 'Record holders' page and made The Smiler officially the world's number one for inversions:

What makes you think there will be a 2 hour queue? Kids are back at school, it's too early for school trips and college/uni haven't broken up for summer yet.

Yes it'll be busier than the season so far but i'll be surprised if the queue tops 90 minutes, especially once the ops get used to running it at peak with 5 trains.
