Re: CBeebies Land 2014 - General Discussion

Was at the Park yesterday and thought I would share some photos of the construction. Nothing apart from a few diggers and all, most of the old Ice Tent is now gone. Expect it will step up a gear once the public have gone.

When I was there on the 4th all theming had been removed from Riverbank Eye Spy and work had started with diggers! Also, the ice tent was gone

I think it's a great idea as Old Mcdonald's farm is getting old and there's somthing new for the kids :)

I know a lot of people think CBeebies land might not be the best idea in the world but after taking my 18 month old son to Alton Towers at Halloween and only being able to take him on 2 rides I think it's an amazing idea. There isn't enough for smaller kids at Alton towers and it'll be great to see what they put in. Now we aren't huge CBeebies fans, my little guy is obsessed with Spongebob, but that's what the Pleasure Beach is for.

I know we all want more thrill rides, but I think it is time for the children to get something as well. Anyway I can't wait to see what the Cbeebies land looks like. I might take another visit soon to see the current progress.

I just feel Alton Towers don't put the effect into getting young families to come to the park. Like look at Thomas Land, all but 1 ride is new in the area. They are just re-theming 3 rides they've already got. The park know that the only thing that get more guests into the park is SW coasters & world firsts.

On a plus note, if they do turn Riverboat Eye Spy into In The Night Garden I think it could be a very good attraction for young families.
I hope the boats go and are replaced with that train thing that goes round the garden, or that boat you see at the end of the programme.

I was thinking they could've made a show with the CBeebies characters in, in the old tent thing, but hasn't the tent been removed?

I think the reason this land isn't opening until May is because the stars of the shows are doing a tour around the UK in April http://www.cbeebieslive.com/the_tour.php

The tent has been removed to make a new area for a show. From the plans it looks like there will be a lot of "grassy" hills for the performance areas which makes me think it is suited to In The Night Garden. But it does seem odd that they didn't decide to refurbish the tent as it would of made it suitable for a year-round show as no cold weather issues.

It's interesting you should say that. I've always wondered the same about the Madagascar show at Chessington.

The only thing I can think of is that it gets people. If little kids see the show going on, they are much more likely to ask their parents to either see the rest, or come back for a later showing than if it were a giant tent. For example, anyone new to Thorpe Park may not go on X because it's just a tent, they wouldn't know what it is without reading the signs at the entrance.

Seen it mentioned in the ShoutBox and on Facebook that CBeebies Land is set to open on the 24th May 2014, and upon checking the website I found the image below on the '2014 Short Breaks' page (which you can get to by clicking the image).

If you went with kids under the height of 0.9m is there much to go on if you visited before the 24th May?

A couple of things in Cloud Cuckoo land, Squirrel Nutty and Sharkbait Reef.

Then of course you have the Skyride, gardens and towers

Surely if some of the usual attractions are closed for the CBeebies land makeover, will there be less than 50 rides and attractions until 24th May?

Potentially.

But who can honestly say that they've been on all 50?

Just looked at the plans again and it looks like Storybook Land and Squirrel Nutty are getting rethemed to CBeebies Land also.

This is interesting as it leaves Adventure Land all on its lonesome now... it's such a teeny tiny land. I wonder what theme Squirrel Nutty will get.

I really wonder why they bothered renewing the SEGA contract if they're just gonna leave the ride isolated
