I personally think its down to the fact Alton Towers is under immense scrutiny atm, I don't think they'll be as intense as Thorpe Parks.

I think its a marketing ploy to promote the mazes to older teens etc

At the same time, if it is a marketing ploy then there would also be many unhappy customers!

As this is a relaunch of Scarefest, then I don't think they would risk tarnishing the event. I don't believe they would tone it down because of this year's events either!

It's now possible to book 'After 4pm' tickets for Scarefest, which are £20 on-the-day or £15 in advance.

I don't think they will use smiler ad because knowing the newspapers they will probably link the smiler to being opened during a haunted time of year. They will probably have some crappy headline like "deadly ride opens in deadly part of the year!"
Ride count since the beginning of 2015: 2057!
Ride count 2020: 284!
Cred count: 117!

Well it looks like smiller could be open for scarefest. Twitter now states

"We would like to reopen The Smiler but the final decision will only be made after we've under taken all nescessary steps"

This is now there answer when asked if it will be open for scarefest

Oh you better.. [-X

Currently following several twitter feeds of scare actors & make-up artists as well as instagram pages so the run up to Scarefest will be interesting, if anything juicy pops up I'll be sure to share. :D

I thought we were meant to be the people meant to "survive" the mazes, not the actors! :lol might be a lot of chasing!

Saying that there is a good 10+ people around the containers now, guessing they are the actors.

Must be great being an actor and getting paid to have fun.

I love halloween so this would be great if I could do this.

hard work nevertheless.

And when you get a group with my sister in it wholly rewarding in that you get a very culpable victim who will join in in the most amusing ways. Jenny doesn't need to go it alone: when she's doing the mazes the actors all pick on her anyway :D

Can Kellogg's vouchers be used?? It states that scare fest dates aren't excluded for Alton towers but says all secondary ticket events are excluded. Given that you can do scare fest without the mazes is it a secondary ticket event?? Cheers

Yeah you'd be able to get park entry :) I'd imagine that secondary tickets would include mazes and the like for other events. I'm not too sure though, but in the past there have been scarefest vouchers on other things so I'm not sure if it would include it. It's probably best to make an enquiry to AT or merlin (Twitter?) but you should be alright :)

A thing to note about the new scare zones is I don't know where the hell they are going. I spent most of yesterday spying on park rather than riding and cannot find any sign whatsoever of work / props or anything relating to a scare zone in either zone.

Even the clearing behind Rita remains empty. If these zones are avoidable and enclosed like Alton Towers said they'd I'm stumped as to where they are.
