Being a new MAP holder, I'm unsure what to do when I get to Towers. Do I just go up to the turnstiles and use my MAP like it is a ticket?

Also, with the friends and family discount, what do we do once we have booked the discounted tickets over the phone?

Alton Towers Hotel Male Toilets

Wed Mar 16, 2016 2:07 pm

I have stayed at the Alton Towers Hotel once a year for the last 3 years.
Every time I goto the toilets there, I wonder what is supposed to happen when I stand on the bit infront of the mirror (it has some writing suggesting that something would happen).

I have never got it to work. What is supposed to happen? Am I somehow doing it wrong? I don't see how I can be, but surely they would have fixed it after 3 years?

Thanks

I believe you hear some tingling (xylophone type noise), a spot light turns on you and a female voice remarks as to how good you look. Not sure why it's still broken after such a long time

Is the pirate show still running every day?

I believe I heard that was part of the cuts as well at least for the time being.

What would be the quietest day to visit in the next 3 weeks?

I purchased an Annual Digipass from Chessington last week, and was wondering if I can get £5 off photo keyrings with the discount, and is the discount only usable once?

I think the Digipass gets you £5 off every 'physical' copy of the photo as many times as you want.

Don't take my word for this!

The mirror in the ladies toilet was working when I was there for a conference on the 14th, it's even been updated since I was last there!

I'm guessing a technical issue that is taking longer than normal to fix?

On Thursday just after dinner I walked into x-sector and there was a train stuck just before the drop and one stuck near the top of the lift hill!

Then later on that day I saw engineers working on a brake on the final brake run

Could somebody please explain how the new Digipass works please? I've looked online and can't seem to find any info. Thanks in advance :)

The following is from the Merlin Annual Pass FAQ section:

The Annual Digipass allows guests to collect all of their digital photos from selected ride, green screen and walkabout locations at THORPE PARK Resort, Chessington World of Adventures Resort, Alton Towers Resort and LEGOLAND Windsor Resort. In addition to your digital photos you are entitled to £5 off the price of a standard print photo when you show your Annual DigiPass at these four Theme Parks. Discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.

The annual digipass is £50 and is only available to Merlin Annual Pass holders.

The way it works is you tell the staff member you want to buy one and they issue you with a temporary pass, a wristband and a form that you need to fill in. Take those three items with you to the specified point (at Alton Towers it's the walkabout photo collection booth on Towers Street) where they will issue you with a proper pass.

Once you have it all you do is tell the Picsolve staff member which photo you would like and then scan your pass (only photos in which you appear can be associated with your pass). If you have the Picsolve app on your phone then you scan your pass using the built-in function and all your pictures will be automatically there. Photos can take up to 24 hours to appear but most of mine were visible in minutes.

If you visit the parks often enough then it's a worthwhile investment.

Is there an option if you don't have an annual pass? I recall reading somewhere that you could get a day pass for £30 but I'm not sure.
