Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

I will hold my hands up and admit I was wrong on this one with the location of the portal. Like many people I went by the plans which were submitted, however we mustn't forget that the Resort also marked the area under the lift hill which did indicate they were going to follow the plans.

Clearly the Resort have decided the option in the concept art with the portal at the bottom of the lift hill is the better choice, and I'll admit it does make sense in terms of what the VR is anticipated to show. I also agree that where it is placed will have more of a visual impact for the public in the area too and may pique the curiosity of any guests who aren't quite sure what the ride is.

Those are great photos Dan! I had some initial skepticism about Galactica (I'm still worried about the throughput though) but it seems like despite having a bad year AT come back strong with Galactica, or at least what we've seen of it! ;)

Thanks for the great photos Dan!

The woodland walk isn't very 'woodland' like aT the minute :lol the closest thing to anything woodland like is a wooden log :lol
Ride count since the beginning of 2015: 1901!
Ride count 2020: 128!
Cred count: 96!

Looking good, so will this new walk replace the old woodland walk?

You know my first thought would be no but thinking about it... it's entirely possible that with the planned 2017 expansion of ATH that the woodland walk into Forbidden Valley could be replaced by a new entrance here. I don't know anything for certain but it's not impossible really :)

Towers organised a PR stunt on Tim Peake's street to emphasise the space theme. It also says that they will be educating children on space travel at the resort in partnership with the National Space Centre.

EDIT: *realises it's in the video* oh well have the news link thing too :lol

I haven't really been following this much as I found Air to be the worst coaster out of all the SW collection. Anyway has the park claimed this to be a totally new ride or a rethemed ride?
A m8 of mine had a email asking him to renew his Annual pass and he asked if Galactica was a totally new coaster. I said no it's just Air with VR headsets his not gonna renew this year as with the closures and no new rides and his family not willing to ride the Smiler again he said it won't be worth it.

On a more serious note, i was wondering if the park decides to add anymore VR planets.

I feel fairly sure that either in future years there will be more planets, perhaps a new planet each season. I personally think we may see one more planet revealed before Galactica opens but I could well be wrong.

I recall some blurb stating that there will be more destinations. It's easy enough to plan the route as the track is prescribed so conceiving the next planet is easy, it's the creation of the simulation that's just time consuming. I hope they do something seasonal with it, as someone suggested deeper in the thread, that would be fun :)

I think they're taking a 'realistic' approach, in a sense that these are planets which could exist somewhere in the universe, so wouldn't expect something seasonal in that respect.

The planets are based in reality which I like but I don't see why they wouldn't do a little special for the two odd weeks of Scarefest each year, apart from the price of making a new simulation. They'd probably just chuck a load of pumpkins in the current planets :P

Although i personally would love a pumpkin planet, i somehow highly doubt that it would happen. Even a planet just for Scarefest would be illogical :P If they are going for realistic than i think we should expect to see some kind of gas planet, and maybe one a bit Earth like and maybe if we are really lucky, we will have a moon style one :)

I was thinking what if they renamed forbidden valley into The Forbidden planet then it could link Nemesis,Galactica,Sub Terra and the blade better.
