this is my first post so not used to it.    sorry if this has been mentioned before i didnt see

in the pictures of the 'spider element' being fabricated there seems to be what looks like hydraulic rams painted in yellow and black not sure but if this is true could it mean that parts of the 'spider' could move as the cars go along the track

I've just made a quick one using coaster crazy ipad app (LMAO don't laugh it's all I have) it actually runs quite smoothly on that app and you come out of it at quite a slow speed and the barrel role isn't too forceful. But I still can't tell if there is a barrel role there. Lmao. There might not be.

this is massively off topic sorry  :D  but is this app for android as well?

It's been confirmed that 'the spider' is inanimate, they're just incredibly realistic looking to give the impression it could move.

I really like that idea, but I've just spent a while testing it out in No Limits and it doesn't work... As we know the top speed of the ride is 85kmph, so that's what I set the launch too, but it wasn't fast enough for the train to clear the vertical twist, and I did try to make it as low as possible. Also the G forces were just dangerous, especially when it twists around at such a high speed! My NL skills aren't the best, but I don't think this will be an inversion featured in The Smiler as it seemed impractical and dangerous.

However, we could still see an inversion at the other end, as it descends into the sea-serpent, much like what's speculated for the first lift hill.

Like i said, just a pipe dream, i doubt it would ever make it on the ride... would be a great inversion though lol

Is there any acctual plans or even any rumours from a reliable source for this "washing machine" or is it literally just someone's wild idea from months ago? I haven't been following closely enough :/

It's only rumoured. As I said on the construction topic, I really don't get why everyone is trying so hard to figure the "secret element/washing machine". The thing is, there might not be any.

Just because Th13teen features a secret element doesn't mean that Alton Towers is going to add one in each new coaster. This kind of element is interesting (and surprising the first time) but in my opinion it really breaks the flow of the riding experience, and I'd rather have an energetic and dynamic coaster experience rather than a ride separated in several sections. And to be honest, once you know Th13teen, the ride experience becomes as exciting as Sonic Spinball, which is pretty disappointing for such an expensive coaster...  :|

I tend to think that the secret element might be to do with the trains rather than an actual "secret element machinery room" itself. Or there might not be any secret element at all, and the world's first might just be the fact that the ride includes several features (inversions, launch, vertical drop, etc) in such way that it is unique...

I believe he was talking about the app that Matthew had a screenshot of, which is called Coaster Crazy, and is only available from the App Store for iOS devices.

I think that the worlds first is to do with the trains, it cant b the track as they have done it with thirteen with the vertical drop and it would b too samey which is why I think it has to do with tbe trains, I think the  worlds first element is to do with gerstlauer and a new train

Don't want to burst anyone's bubble but, the washing machine element will not be happening, and lets just say the plans are to trick u slightly, as they don't need to release any plans whatsoever for the ride

It might be:

. Clockwise and Anti-Clockwise Rotating Carriages

. Height Adjusting Coaster

. Coaster separates, 1 goes forwards and 1 goes backwards and then re-join at the end

. 1 side of the coaster facing backwards and 1 facing forward

Quite intrigued with the idea of possible world first being about the coas cars. As I think this is the only thing that hasn't had much speculation.
About the track I just hope it isn't too much, I mean don't get me wrong it will be good but doesn't need to be extreme like nemesis style. But if we're now not thinking its a world first about the track elements what else could there be?

Next year we are busy doing more classics like hybrid coaster trains and Bobsled Coasters, but also some more firsts, such as our newly-designed 8-passenger launch vehicles.”

None of that is anything to do with the smiler?

The Smilers are 16 passenger so it rules that out,  and hybrids; wooden and bobsleds are for their bobsled coasters but some new firsts this is possibly the towers with them keeping them secret hinting at the coaster cars

Hi guys ... First post on this thread

Anyways, after reading John Wardley's interview on the radio I can see he claimed the ride to be, the most track per sqr metre in the world. Is this therefore the confirmed world-record or am I playing catch up?

Well that may be a record if his claims are true, but it isn't the 'world first' element they are going to heavily market/keep secret.

ok so from the game app advert, ive noticed a few things:

Image

pic 1: shows the first drop out of the station, hoping the decor stays something like this, it be good if the effects of the face were moving and such...
pic 2: shows how the queue line may look like once constructed. very hospitalised feel to it!
pic 3 shows the inverted drop and matches up to the support we have just seen AT post from yesterday
pic 4: pretty much CONFIRMS there is an inverted drop...AND that at the top, it looks like the spider element is called "the marmaliser"
pic 5: Little disappointing but it does show that the plaza is non existant, along with the pit being, well, just a pit :(
pic 6: one more inversion before the brake run :D

one thing to note is this is just a game and I wouldnt take anything 100% in terms of decor for pic 1, 2 and 5 about the pit. i noticed the outside of station building was white with yellow drainpipes on...i dont think this will be the finished product. hopefully something is going to be done with the pit and not just left as painted concrete.

There also seems to be yellow 'graffiti' on the ground, around the ride area. Also, the app confirms an 'indoor heartline', which if you pause the video the moment the upgrade screen comes up, you can see it listed, before it scrolls along.
