You've gotta love how one of the photos in that Sun article shows the first inverted drop missing in the background!

In the third photo of that Sun article, you can clearly see a segment of track that has nothing connected to it, just comes to an end! So clearly the last bolt has not been put in! lol

It does give us a new view of the Marmiliser since it was almost complete.

Press Association images of the workers here.
This made me chuckle, not even close:

Workmen from Alton Towers Resort in Staffordshire, celebrated the completion of the new worlds-first highest roller coaster, The Smiler, by creating a modern-day version of the famous Lunch atop a Skyscraper shot from 1932.

Banked turn from lift hill going in it looks like:

Nice to see them celebrate the 'completion' in a slightly more original way than planting a conifer at the top  ;)

Probably been a planned PR exercise for a couple of weeks, making me think they are indeed 1 or 2 days behind where they planned to be (probably as a result of that stubborn piece the other day!).

Don't bother commenting on the article pointing that out though - they just delete it...

Looks like they've got rid of the comments section altogether ;)

They're almost correct though, come on lift hill! :D

EDIT: It's back again, my bad :)

Unsure to which support you mean as there is only one to me that looks slanted. The support in that bottom image that looks slanted is the one in front of the crane that has recently been put in for the last installed piece of the lift hill - but that could be the reason it is slanted as it hasn't been fully placed/set yet before they will concrete.

Yes that is the one i am on about. I suppose you could be right

Oh well, even thought it's not true... on a positive note, at least it's good publicity for The Smiler and Alton Towers, and a well-deserved "thank you!" for the workers who have been busting their humps putting this monster of a coaster together! I hope they know how much we all appreciate thier efforts! :)

From the article:

“We have been taking breaks in some strange places but today we thought we would enjoy a well-earned cup of tea on top of the ride’s highest loops to capture the moment.”

Should read "we have been putting brakes..." Lol  ;)

That painting is starting to come along nicely..... and that lift hill looks really good .... i like how thick it is XD actually makes it stand out against the track :D

also i'd like to point out the today is a HUGE day for the smiler as the final piece of tri-rail has been placed :D........ (i presume it's the last piece of tri-rail anyway XD).... i think we now only have 3 pieces of lift hill left including the top of the hill....

WOOOOOOOO XD

From Roodlesnouter on park in the last 10 mins, looks like the crane is about to lift another piece
