Alton should let our army of TT enthusiasts at The Smiler! Here's enough of us to get her fixed up in no time, a deed already be up north so we could ride it as soon as we opened it  ;)

But surely AT would need experienced builders to work on the smiler although we do know alot about roller coasters
:D

Yeah we know enough! I'm sure we'd learn quickly
@LukeSavidge1998 I follow back so hit follow button! #getcorrect #excited
We know what we are, we know what we are! Erm.... Europa League winners we know what we are! Doesn't have the same ring to it does it?

Oh and have they painted the rehydrators surports cream? off colour choice if so  :?

I didn't think the rhydrator would stay like that? It doesn't match The Smiler or Oblivion.

I agree it looks strange have they painted it since the cream coat it was given?

TBH the only company that spend that amount of money on rides is Disney sorry i'll go back on topic :)

Not true millennium force at cedar point cost $52 million

No, Millennium Force cost them in 1999/2000 $25,000,000 (£16,547,525) which due to inflation nowadays would cost about $35,000,000 (£23,166,535).

We are getting The Smiler in today's money for £18,000,000 which is about $27,194,400. To put that into perspective, Gatekeeper added this year to Cedar Point cost them in the region of $25,000,000 - $30,000,000. So The Smiler is basically around the same sort of cost as Gatekeeper.

If The Smiler was being built at the same time as Millennium Force (year 2000) it would of cost about £12,500,000 - £13,250,000 ($18,885,000 - $20,018,100). In contrast, Oblivion built 2 years earlier (1998) cost £12,000,000 ($18,129,600) and would of cost £17,882,353 ($27,016,659) nowadays.

The only real company that spends over $30,000,000 on most of their attractions is Disney. Expedition Everest cost them about $100,000,000. Their latest Tower of Terror attraction opened in 2007 at Walt Disney Studios (Paris) for €180,000,000 ($232,722,000).

Just some figures for you all to ponder over...

In mutiny bay ATM. Must say, the Smiler is huge (the pit is massive!). Passed it first thing, and fence work is going on near the Staffordshire knot. Loads of tarpaulin over the queue near the queue line shop. To stop rust maybe? Anyway, I'll keep you all updated. :moj

Bit off topic, but I thought it was better than the MGM one.

Anyways, back on topic, does anyone know if anything significant is happening on site today? :moj

actually i went there a week ago and i have to say HTOT is a fantastic ride, best drop tower ive been on, and its certainly not a 'budget version' infact its practically the same as the american version and better than the tokyo version (in my opinion) sorry for the short rant but HTOT is one of my faves :) on another note, the smiler, if portrayed by disney would be even better, i would love to see what the smiler would be like undercover with lighting, loud music (that goes along with the track :D and maybe a launch uphill, kinda like space mountain mission 2. sorry for a bit off topic rant, but yeah, i needed to get that out.

edit: im a bit late, oops  oh and im the 8000th poster on this forum section :D

Just passed the site. They are painting the mesh on the queue lines now. I'm assuming this means they have added all the mesh they need??

Workers are currently painting the mesh 'roofing' in a greyish colour. Yellow plastic/ metal is under some tarpaulin near the shop, resting on top of the queue. 2 guys are working on car wheels and there are staff with litter pickers and brooms in the plaza thing (near enterprise). Pictures this evening.

Took this earlier. No significance apart from the fact I love how the track looks in person. I'll take some more tomorrow morning. Any requests?
