What a great way to end the life of Beanoland! Shame however that it will be unavailable for the rest of the season, reducing Chessington's already limited offering even further. However, cannot wait to see work start on 2010.

Great provided you enjoy being lobbed with custard pies and walking round like your cooking went wrong!

But seriously it does sems a very fitting end to an area home to the most notorious of them all - Dennis the Menace.

I guess the end of Beanoland will be the end of another phase and decade for Chessington. Let's hope CWOA will continue to prosper well into the 2010s and beyond and hopefully with a true return to form since the 1990s. (I speak as if I know the park very well but in actual fact i've never even been in my life lol).

I want to attend that so much! Want to see Beanoland before it goes into the Chessie graveyard :(

In all my years as a Chessy fanboy (I used to go about once a month in it's 'glory days', pre Thorpe getting Colossus), I think I've been into Benoland maybe twice. There really is nothing in there that interests me, and TBH I've always thought it looks tacky. So good riddance, says I!

Giant custard pie fight? I'd like to know how they swung that with H&S :P
[size=90]For some things there is no rational explanation. There is no way out. There is no happy ending to this story. Welcome to the unknown. Welcome to eternal darkness.

Welcome to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - The Ride

Meh, Health and Safety isn't quite as evil as everyone (mainly the media) makes out. The risk assessment will probably be mammoth, but that's no reason not to allow it.

Sounds like a good send off for the area. Can't say I ever particularly like Benoland, but it's really great to hear that it will have a proper closing celebration, rather than being open one day and closed the next.

I really think this is a fantastic way to end something. Beanoland was sort of great, but it wasn't worth going into, except Billy's Whizzer which is awesome and the trick drinking fountain! I don't feel sad at all that it is going, since no rides are being demolished, all will still be there next year in a new look!

In 2009, they really emphasised the Beano characters, with the humerous Bea prancing around the park and trying to jump in the fountains, so they have sent it out on a high note.

This custard tart fight shows that Chessington can think of something great and are going to be better in 2010. And not just the new area, the whole theme park. It has always been one of the better theme parks in Europe, but with lack of any change at all for five years (whilst Thorpe Park got all the limelight in the UK) it seemed a bit pointless going. I really look forward to 2010 for Chessington, Alton Towers and Thorpe Park.

Bye bye, Beanoland!
Today is the beginning of the end for Beanoland...
It was great in its time, but when the time came it had to go!

I'm genuinely gutted as this week, Monday - Friday, i'm visiting all the Merlin parks (Chessington, Legoland, Thorpe and Alton) and have been planning to for some time. Apart from Alton Towers it'll be my first visit to all of them and as i'm from Dundee (home of the Beano) i'm sad I won't be able to see Beanoland. Talk about bad luck! LOL

Its a shame, I can probably relate to Beanoland the most, as I've basically been to it ever since it opened, except this year so I won't get to say good bye. It was a great area in its prime, but sadly it seems to have gone to ruin and I think the re-theme will make it much more better.

Farewell Beanoland!

Got last ever ride on Billy's Wizzer... oh yeah! :)

Only 7 people on the ride (inc Me & Jake), they didn't fill it for the last one...

Spoke to some great staff at Chessie today! :D

My God  check the worlds tallest man stood on the right of the video :!:

I personally feel sorry for the cooks who stayed up for weeks preparing all them custard pies which were destroyed in seconds.

But i've never been but it's always a shame to lose a cherished part of a theme park. It would be like Alton Towers losing Ug Land... Oh Wait, They Are ! :P
