I heard a while back they were going to consider a flying coaster, however I also heard and please correct me if I'm wrong THI3TEEN was plan for Thorpe and saw for towers before they knew what ride systems they were i don't know but back on topic i reckon a flying coaster would do nicely and it would have one of every decent ride out there!

How is the space aspect looking for this thing? How much space has Thorpe got to work with?

If they use the land next to The Swarm then they have just a little bit less than the space they had for The Swarm.

There you can see the land, and it's quite a bit of space.

But I doubt it would be a flying coaster as The Swarm offers a very similar experience.

Would that be enough space to build an awesome GCI Woodie? :p

I should imagine there's enough space in Ireland to build the world's number one GCI woodie, in terms of size/length/height, quality, thrills, everything. An entire country's a pretty big space to work with...

:P

Just to clear this up the GCI was planned for a space near the park entrance according to what was said a few pages back. Personally I'm not holding out hope that this ride will be built as there seem to have already been several wooden coasters designed by Merlin Studios, none of which have been considered popular enough to be built.

It has also already been noted that Thorpe Park no longer have any intention to build a Flying Coaster because The Swarm fills that gap in their line up and offers a unique experience not found at another UK park.

Rather than the short sharp "It's gonna be a....." posts, can we try and add a little more substance and justification please?  Posts like that really don't add any value to the topic and only serve to clutter it up.

Thanks :D

I know it's probably WAY to early to even start thinking about this, but what would you like to see in terms of theming. In short, how would you like this coaster to be themed?

Something that isn't the same dark and depressing 'apocalyptic' or 'abandoned' theme that we've seen repeated ad nauseam at Merlin (Th13teen, SW7, Swarm, Nemesis, Oblivion, Saw, Raptor, Rita). I want to see a positive theme of some kind. Just anything, as long as it's not about dilapidation and decay!

I'd prefer something very happy. the track should be rainbow colour, and the trains should be unicorns...

I kid, but something with Grass. even the colour Green is better than Grey.

You mean a ride based off this?

If so, then yes please!

I was in Thorpe on Monday after a few years (Stealth was the newest ride when I last went), I loved the theming around The Swarm and Saw, but Stealth was by far my favourite still. There's something incredibly joyful about the 50s.

Extending Stealth's theme would be a win in my books!

Could you imagine an area like X-Sector or possibly something futuristic (chrome and mirrored) at Thorpe?

Valid source?

I'm sorry but the 'my friend that works at the park told me' card has been used oh-so many times now, it gets rather boring - and I doubt the validity of your post with no sufficient source to back you up.

I think that it's pretty certain that it will not be a B&M Flying coaster and The Swarm offers a very similar experience.

But what I hope we will see is a Intamin Blitz or a Mack Megacoaster because I think that they both fill a gap in Thorpe's ride line up. The Blitz would be a intense roller coaster with twists and turns which is something Thorpe don't have. And a Mack Megacoaster is just a coaster that there aren't enough of, and would be a excellent experience to have at Thorpe.

I'm still hoping for wood, all I can do is cross my fingers and hope Thorpe listen to me :p

I think Merlin will realise that Thorpe needs airtime, they realised that Alton had hardly any inversions and then they went ahead and planned SW7, but I'm not sure if a good airtime coaster could fit on that tiny island.
I used to think I knew a lot about coasters, but then I joined this forum.

It is not a B&M Flyer. All plans for one of those were cancelled once 'The Swarm' progressed through the design stages and it was considered 'too similar' a ride experience.

You will also never see a B&M Dive Coaster at Thorpe Park because with 'Saw' the ride is unmarketable and pretty pointless.

A floorless is also incredibly unlikely. On the basis that it would look too similar to the large multi-looping coaster already in the park. That and once again 'The Swarm' takes care of any unique experience a floorless would give, and then some.

Could we all ensure we stay on topic guys.

I know a lot of hysteria has been based from one post although if we could stay on topic and add to the discussion rather than posting something pointless that'd be great. Thank you.
