The list for the levitating train is now full- but they'll have more stock in by late June :)

Yes this list has been full since the order came in due to it only being the first on the list who were contacted, once these extra trains come in the remaining people on the pre-order list will be contacted. :)

SouthParks have posted that this video has been released showcasing the various steps in creating the advert for Derren Brown's Ghost Train.

It also includes a slightly differing version of the advert, including a new scene toward the end of the advert that may hint to some of the movement that riders may experience within the ride.

Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

Thu Jun 02, 2016 7:53 pm

At a point during that video it shows the 'train' tilting with the actors holding on. Maybe a small hint towards the attraction.
Spoiler: show
The 'review' did talk about the train being lifted up and swing around???

As you may have seen on SouthParks Facebook, Hoxton Redsox, the visual effects studio who worked on the DBGT advert (as well as the Galactica advert, and contributed the intro and outro islands for Thorpe's generic and Fright Nights adverts), have released a number of videos showing its production.

There's;
  • a Storyboard Animatic
  • a somewhat creepy 3D Animatic
  • a video showing 'Offline Progress' (basically a version of the advert before any of the CGI is added)
  • a VFX Breakdown including the alternative advert (as posted on SouthParks Facebook)
  • a CG Train Interior
  • a slightly different version of the advert that has previously been released (has since been replaced by the released advert)

Due to the privacy settings the videos can't be directly linked, although they can be viewed by browsing Hoxton Redsox's Vimeo videos.

The BTS videos look really good. It's fascinating to see how they made the advert - especially the island scene at the beginning.

Due to the slight resurgence of social activity by the resort I'd hope they'd be nearing an announcement, however I can see why they are holding off. :)

I would rather it fully operational and wait . I have never been so hyped for a theme park attraction

I'm really not excited about DBGT, I don't quite know why.

Maybe it's a good thing, I'll go on it and it will scare the hell out of me! I'm not getting the hype at the moment though.

I'm the opposite - but I wasn't a while back. When it was rumoured that it would be Derren Brown themed, I was kind of unhappy because of Merlin yet again investing in another IP. But then when things got announced, I got really excited for it because it looks interesting and creative. I also have more faith in this than, for example, Galactica, because Derren's on board, and I know he'd want the ride to be perfect.

Now I'm extremely excited for DBGT (as long as it opens by the time I go in July), whereas I'm barely excited at all for SW8.

Me and a mate was on park yesterday and was speaking to a member of staff. The ride is all done now and illusions are set. All they have to do is training, testing and security checks. We also saw two staff members go around the shop making that all items were stocked and checked off. I was very impressed with the shop. However, I go to Thorpe park in the 1st of July and we were told it should be open by them. Could be all speculation by the staff but thought I'd let yous know what I got told

Although this is interesting, I'd very much doubt the staff know exactly what is happening with the attraction seeing as some don't even know what they'll be wearing yet! :lol

Testing and training of the attraction has been occurring over the past month or so, and so fingers crossed it'll be ready soon. :)

Was at the resort today, all the staff have been on the train this evening after close, so it must be close to ready if they're letting staff test it now!

I hope so! Fingers Crossed :-k

Its getting frustrating especially as after the first delay they said end may, so everyone re-organised, and we were sure they'd get it right. But, things happen, which is unfortunate.

Spoke to a staff member last Sunday, they don't have a fixed date for opening. However she did tell me that Derren Brown will be there for the opening for sure. So DBGT opening only can happen whenever he's free on his current tour, and seeing that the next start date for his tour is 4 July...;)
