What you guys think?

I think a dark ride like this is exactly what Thorpe also needs and indeed the UK as we do not have any rides similar to this from what im aware.

One could look at VALHALLA as a great dark ride... in the completely wrong market. I find it inane they put a drenching water ride in a horrible climate. It's a shame they didn't implement the same budget, desire and brains into a traditional dark ride at Blackpool.

I think HEX is on par with some of the US dark rides... and it'll be interesting to see what Th13teen has in store in the dark ride section(s).

But - yes - the general consensus seems to me that the Merlin parks here need to step up their game and install a quality, integrated and immersive dark ride in their parks - not just re-theme one designed by Tussauds!

THORPE PARK: Octopus Garden and Ranger County

Sat Jan 23, 2010 11:11 am

Octopus Garden and Ranger County are getting really old a creaky. I used to love them as a child but recently going on Mr. Monkey's Banana Ride, I notcie it doesn't swing high and it's really old, creaky and slow. These two areas also don't fit in with the park's target audience. If the areas were removed, THORPE PARK could get four or five new flat rides in the future.

In my books, Thorpe need to do two things this year and it does not involve installing new rides.
A) Make sure their reliability of their rides improves- I am sick of going and queue for an hour and find out the ride has shut down due to "technical difficulties". This brings me onto my next point.
B) Queueing. Whenever I go to a theme park (and that includes my home park Alton Towers who I rate highly with the likes of their crowd control), you need to expect some sort of queue- weather that be for a ride or attraction of some sort. What Thorpe Park are awful at are keeping their queues moving even on a day when the park is not full. I can recall queueing 2 hours for Colossus and only one train was running on a Saturday last year. There was no special events going on and it was a "normal" day of the season. I think that speaks for itself...

BIG NEWS!

Several people have walked past THORPE PARK in the last few days and reported that parts of Colossus have gone this hopefully means new track parts and a re-paint! Hopefully Colossus will be a lot smoother this year!

Parts of Calypso Quay are also being cleaned up

SAW: Alive is almost complete!

Looks like a quite year in terms of attractions but well deserved!

Looking forward to it! :D

I heard Colossus was meant to be re-painted last closed season but the budget ran out. It is badly needed!

I don't think Mr Monkeys Banana ride ever swinged high :D remember it's a children's ride, I hope that they don't dismantle Mr Monkeys Banana ride , used to love it as a kid, also Thorpe don't have enough family rides, would be stupid to remove it.

I think whatever expansion Thorpe do in the future is to enhance the theme for Rangers County and to completely change Nepyunes Beach and Octopus Garden. This could be made into an imersive well themed family area replacing the swimming pools with rides and shop, resturants etc. This would create a nice flowing entrance to the park instead of looking over unused pools and a cluster of kiddie rides.

Once these areas sorted I think Thorpe should look into expanding on the two new islands.

Yeah, at the moment Neptunes beach and Octupus gardens are looking run down and unused, the area really does lack atmosphere. Hope they scrap Neptunes Beach and Octupus Gardens and replace it with a well themed family area.

Don't forget that Thorpe Park is unlike Alton Towers in the fact that Thorpe can expand and have much bigger rides. Stealth could never be at Alton because of height restrictions, so a 265ft hyper coaster is a idea which I like and think will happen in the near future (long before 2058).

Before they get rid of Tidal Wave(In about five to ten years.), they should have an event called 'Tidal Wave's Biggest Wave', where all of the scenery is absolutely SMASHED up and there is water all over the ground and huge cracks in the buildings, smashed windows and all of the arcade machines inside the Amity Boardwalk Games would be tipped over and smashed all over the ground. There should also be huge damage to the rest of Amity Cove, like huge dents in Stealth/Flying Fish/Storm In a Teacup theming and signs laying on the ground, aswell as the two vehicles outside Tidal Wave and Stealth being absolutely smashed up and dented. Wow, that would be cool...

All i can say is WTF?

Honestly what are you on about? Tidal wave has atleast 15 years left (unless a major breakdown occurs - probably likely with the amazing mechanical staff they have at TP! )

Or they will alter TW to a much steeper drop but never remove it... Also what is all the vandalizing crap on about? God help him...

I said "In about five to ten years.". It's just an estimation.

OK, there are a few ups and downs on Tidal Wave.

It is unclear wheather it is still sponsored by Original Source due to the fact that half of the signs have been taken down and half are still there.

The gas ball and water tower effects don't work anymore.

The drop leaks. BADLY. Whenever you're in the queue underneath the drop, it's always dripping all over the place.

Half of the WWTP Radio speakers on the telegraph poles don't work.

THORPE PARK could easily fit at least one roller coaster and two flat rides in the space that Tidal Wave takes up.

Now, I LOVE Tidal Wave but really, that was just an idea about what they should do before it closes. I think it would be really cool going there and all of Amity Cove was flooded and smashed up.

If you go down to the Towers today, you\'d better ride Th13teen. :P

Ugh! I hate Thorpe Park Mania with a passion! I don't understand the point of pretending to be 'The Official Website of THORPE PARK!", when they are infact just a stupid, boring guide, with no good information or stuff like that. I really hate it how they lie about being official, though.

I also believe that there is a member of this forum pretending to be the owner of another ceratain Merlin fan website...

You hate it because "Stupid" people won't support your ideas to trash rides and areas, and for the park to vandalise its own property?, I must say I can see why you hate that site...

And by pointing out how unrealistic and ridiculous a, quite frankly idiotic idea is, I am now pretending to own TowersTimes, apologies everyone :)

This is turning into a right slanging match, and going way off topic from discussion on Thorpe's future. Stick to the topic please, and keep personal insults/discussion/arguments off the forum and hold them privately please.
